The offerings rotate on a weekly basis, but you can expect creative treatments like cream cheese thin mint or blueberry streusel.

Vortex Doughnuts in Asheville’s South Slope is a new operation, featuring lots of classic doughnuts in a refurbished paper warehouse. We grabbed a doughnut each – call it a breakfast snack – and then headed over to High Five Coffee Bar, just north of downtown, for a latte. But the breakfast coupe de grace came from Biscuit Head in West Asheville.

We are suckers for vegan doughnuts and while walking around asheville we knew we needed a little afternoon sugar pick me up, so we stopped by Vortex Doughnuts. Vegan is the default at Vortex DouAnd they’re really good, too. There’s often a line and they sometimes sell out, so if you’re craving a particular flavor, especially on a weekend, go early. Oh, and we recommend getting at least a half a dozen so you can try the different flavors.

Great place to stop in for a donut and coffee, Vortex is one of my favorites in downtown Asheville it has to be between them and Hole Donuts who has the best donut and I Asheville. These guys offer a vegan donut if you’re into that sort of thing.

I’ve been coming here for the gluten free donuts for a few years. This morning I ordered a decaf coffee drink to go with them. I didn’t notice on the menu it said 4oz which was the size of a shot glass.

They specialize in cake doughnuts (think Dunkin' Donuts) and yeast doughnuts (think Krispy Kreme) & have a great coffee menu to go along with your sweet treats.
