Reviews Summary

Bosq offers an exceptional fine dining experience with creative, nature-inspired New American cuisine and impeccable service. Diners rave about the personalized touches, the artistic presentation of dishes, and the immersive tasting menus. While most find the experience extraordinary, a few have noted that the wine pairings, while unique, did not always meet expectations for the price point.

"My partner and I have dined here several times and it’s always been a 10/10 magical experience! The dinner service is artfully crafted from start to finish, in an elegant yet warm homey atmosphere that supports connection and conversation. The attention to detail is immaculate, right down to the personalized note from the Chef’s wife welcoming me to Bosq!
I highly recommend the 7 or 9 course tasting menu. Even though the first few courses seem small at first, the dishes are all portioned in such a way that by the time we reached desert I was stuffed! Every dish is so unique and bursting with flavor, the duck liver mousse and Colorado potatoes are to die for, but the star of the show is their bread! If you’re looking for the fully immersive experience, definitely get the wine pairings. Each wine is expertly paired with each dish, and the sommelier showcases some truly unique wines that I would never encounter anywhere else.
The cocktails are crafted with just as much care and creativity as the food, echoing some of the unique umami, fermented, and forest foraged flavors that are a hallmark of their cuisine. The bar tender is so friendly, handsome, and knowledgeable, and always takes excellent care of me. Bosq’s friendly staff and regular clientele makes this place feel like the “Cheers” of Michelin star fine dining!"

Naomi Schiller

"My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed the 5-course tasting menu and found each dish to be outstandingly delicious! The creativity in each dish is beyond one's imagination, and the flavors and execution are top-notch! All members of the restaurant deliver exceptional service and are knowledgeable about every dish. If the roasted duck is on the menu, it's a MUST try - cooked to perfection. Definitely order the inflated cabbage - an unexpected dish of deliciousness. The lobster grilled over juniper branches was luxurious and a melt-in-your-mouth dish. I cannot rave enough about Bosq. It simply exceeded our expectations and provided us with a meal of a lifetime!"

Esmeralda Lopez

"My husband and I had the five course tasting menu and it was phenomenal!! Amazing flavours and presentation. The chef even wrote us a cute little card for it being our first time away from our baby which was such a sweet and personal touch. We will definitely come back here the next time we are in Aspen!"

The 17 Best Restaurants In Aspen - Aspen

Bosq is the spot to take somebody when you’re asking them to spend eternity together—or, in ski town terms, just until the snow melts. The moody, mountain-modern dining room, with its warm light, lush greenery, and upcycled natural wood is the ideal setting for a bucket list dinner—and that’s exactly what this is. The chef personally forages most of the ingredients for the five- and nine-course tasting menus, which feature dishes like forest broth with black truffle gougères, lobster grilled over juniper branches with buttermilk, and a plate of buffalo with maitake mushrooms, wild rice, and onion consommé.

Aspen's 11 Best Après Ski Food and Drink Experiences

Bosq’s chef-owner Barclay Dodge draws inspiration from the vast wilderness that surrounds the Roaring Fork Valley (the restaurant’s name is a nod to the Spanish word “bosque,” which means forest), even going so far as to forage for his own ingredients—spruce tips, wild rose, watercress and serviceberry branches are just a few of his favorites. The intimate restaurant, which Dodge owns with his wife Molly, is one of the hottest dinner spots in Aspen, so make an after-après reservation ASAP if you’re planning an upcoming ski trip. This year’s winter tasting menu includes four, five or seven courses, with dishes ranging from forest soup (game broth, wild mushrooms, black truffle) to black cod cooked in alder wood (potato, winter truffles, creme fraiche).

It’s little surprise that Dodge recommends Bosq – he is the chef and co-owner of the local establishment, after all. But he’s far from alone: the intimate downtown restaurant with an emphasis on locally foraged ingredients is often booked up two or three weeks in advance. “Think modern alpine getaway: a clean space with grey washed tones, Scandinavian design and sultry music passing through the air,” says Dodge, who does much of the foraging himself.

A Summer Food and Drink Guide to Aspen

Chef and owner Barclay Dodge builds the five- and 10-course tasting menus at Bosq by plucking mushrooms from moist Independence Pass nooks and watercress from forested stream banks, nudging neighboring growers for luscious melons, and grilling lobster over fragrant juniper branches. The Michelin-starred 35-seat restaurant is a lesson in art and alchemy and an Aspen institution worthy of a lingering summer night indoors.
