The early morning fog is just turning into a light rain as we head over to meet the pioneers of the Astoria food scene at Blue Scorcher Café. Located in a former car dealership, this raw and eclectic space is a local gathering place where, in addition to enjoying breakfast and lunch, you can keep up to date on what’s happening around town. The member-owned bakery and café got its start very much by necessity when in 2004 rumors started swirling that the only baker in town was closing shop.

Well, no matter what you’re in the mood for, Fort George Brewery and the Blue Scorcher Bakery & Cafe have you covered!. These two Astoria favorites are housed in the same majestic building, so whether you’re in the mood for craft beer and pizza or a latte and a scone, this historic building can make all your dreams come true. We love the patio at Fort George and always pop in for a brew when we are in town.

One of the best places to fuel up for your exploits is the Blue Scorcher Bakery & Cafe, famous for its baked goods, especially the cardamon cinnamon rolls. But you’ll also find fruit danishes, mouthwatering scones, and amazing breakfast burritos along with seriously tasty coffee. Blue Scorcher Bakery serves out bread and coffee to young parents while their kids play with wooden toys in the corner, and is but one of a few great coffee shops in town. Blue Scorcher Bakery and Cafe is located in the heart of Astoria. It’s a perfect spot for breakfast, lunch, or for some pastries and coffee. It’s a bakery and cafe which specializes in artisan breads, pastries and homemade seasonal meals.

Overall would recommend for healthy, gluten-free/vegan/vegetarian options!. Service was SO incredibly friendly from order to delivery at the table. They clearly care about their customers' experience and is a major reason I'd visit again.

In the tradition of NW bakeries and artesian foods, the Blue Scorcher will handle breakfast and lunch just fine. They also serve an excellent, locally roasted coffee. This kind of food is also good on the go.

The many fresh-made pastries, quiches and sandwiches at Blue Scorcher are all worth your time. Get in on the early side to guarantee availability of items.

Green Door Cafe: Gluten free restaurant with an eclectic menu… looked absolutely amazing, but sadly it was closed Monday + Tuesday.
