Reviews Summary
Bon Ton offers a lively atmosphere and a unique Cajun-Vietnamese fusion menu, with many praising the creative cocktails and seafood dishes. However, some diners have noted inconsistencies in food seasoning and service, with a concerning report of a foreign object found in a dish, which was not adequately addressed. The restaurant appears to be a better fit for drinks and a fun night out than a consistently stellar dining experience.
"Since I couldn’t make it to Mardi Gras in person this year, I wanted to find a place that still gave me that nostalgic, festive vibe—and BonTon did just that!
Let’s start with the Hurricane cocktail—I was a little skeptical at first because it included absinthe, which can be overpowering, but they did a great job balancing the flavors. It wasn’t my personal favorite, but that’s just a preference thing, and they had plenty of other cocktail options to choose from.
Now, let’s get into the food—because this Cajun-Vietnamese fusion restaurant is doing something special! I love creative ways of blending flavors, and they nailed it. The food was so good that after my appetizer, I completely forgot to take pictures—I was too busy enjoying every bite! The one picture I did manage to take was of the crab claws, and honestly, I don’t even know how to describe them because I’ve never had anything quite like them before… but they were delicious.
I also ordered the shrimp burger, and the way they infused flavors together was indescribable. Whoever thought to combine Cajun and Vietnamese flavors like this might just be a genius!
For ambiance, they had a live band playing later in the evening for Fat Tuesday, and that truly gave me the childhood memories I was craving. I left feeling happy and completely satisfied with the food.
Now for the service—it was just okay, but I’m chalking that up to them being busier than usual. They were running a crawfish special, and while the seasoning was decent, it didn’t quite give me that Cajun umph I’m used to—but then again, I’m from a place where they season their seasonings!
Overall, BonTon delivered on the experience, the flavors, and the vibes. I’d definitely return!"

"AMAZING!! The food is okay, or what I had was ok. We had the gumbo and the shrimp boil to eat. The gumbo didn't have a lot of flavor but I'm thinking it's because the sausage was cut in small pieces and didn't have a lot of shrimp. The boil was under seasoned, but I still ate it because I was hungry. The drinks and bartenders are AMAZING!! This is a place you have to go and have drinks!!! I can't say enough, all I can say is taste for yourself!! It's an amazing place. Great vibe!! Very nice people!!"

"We only had oysters here and they were so lackluster we decided not to proceed with any other food. We may retry at a later date but the oysters didnt feel broiled long enough and were very blaise. The customer service was fine and it seems like a fun place."

You can’t miss the building—it’s pink—and you won’t soon forget the joyful Viet-Cajun food, either. Of particular note: blackened catfish that you can get in a banh mi or over a rice bowl with pickled veg and crispy shallots, boiled seafood by the pound, spicy jicama and papaya salad, and a Nashville hot po’boy with your choice of filling (a fried-oyster option will convert even the most recalcitrant fried-oyster skeptic). A late-night stop for local industry folks, Bon Ton is as much a drinking place as it is an eating place, so don’t skip the hurricanes—or bartender Baylee Hopings’s more adventuresome flights of fancy—either.
