This popular bar in Decatur Square has one of the best craft beer lists in town. Belgians, porters, high-gravity trappists, sours, and local brews, Brick Store Pub has all the suds. With a multi-page bottle selection and more than 20 beers on tap, there’s something for everyone—and there’s even a beer garden out back where pooches are welcome.

Brick Store is a low-key dinner pub that takes beer very seriously. There are no televisions at the bar for mindless distraction and no commercial beers on tap. Instead, they have a special “Cellar List” of more than 650 vintage beers.

Brick Store Pub’s owners claim to have around one thousand beers in the cellar at any given moment. It's a beer lover's heaven, with good drinks, good food, and friendly service.

Decatur’s Brick Store Pub has long been acknowledged as not just one of the best beer bars in the South but one of the best in the country. With two bars (including a wonderfully cozy upstairs Belgian bar) and a full menu of gastropub food, it’s a one-stop shop for experiencing some of the best beer available in the area. In particular, The Brick Store has the single largest cellar collection I’ve ever seen, which is codified in a large manual of vintage beer that you can peruse while sitting at the bar.

The Brick Store Pub is a beloved Decatur neighborhood pub that gives patrons the ability to enjoy pints and food made from scratch without obtrusive televisions or obnoxious music. The main bar offers local, regional, and national American craft beers, German and English specialty beers, and vintage and reserve bottled beer. The Brick Store Pub also features its Belgian Room and the Belgian Beer Bar, which offers eight rotating draughts and more than 120 Belgian and Belgian-style bottled beers.

2:00 PM An English-style pub in an old courthouse – From there, a quick ten-minute Lyft brought me over to an unassuming little storefront that houses one of the best beer bars in the area. Co-owned by Mike Gallagher, Dave Blanchard, and Tom Moore (who perhaps not too coincidentally also have a stake in Good Word), Brick Store Pub emulates the quintessential neighborhood British pub. Situated in an old courthouse building, Brick Store Pub has been a staple in the area for twenty-five years.

This delightful pub is owned by former employee's of Mellow Mushroom in Athens, GA. The Brick Store is located in an old hardware store that used to sit right on the courthouse square in central Decatur (and yes, the store did sell bricks). The pub is reminiscent of The Globe pub in Athens (and is just as much fun). There are wonderful food items here (including a juicy turkey burger and crispy fish and chips) and the most intelligent beer selection in Decatur.

Don’t get me wrong, The Brick Store is a great place, but as the old joke goes, “no one goes there anymore, it’s too crowded.” It’s a rarity that you could open the Brick Store’s large wooden door and not immediately see that it’s sardine-packed (their densest time is 9 p.m.), but if you do manage to get a barstool or a booth, you’ll find it’s one of the best bars you’ve ever been to (just avoid the upstairs if you’re claustrophobic).

Nearby in downtown Decatur, Brickstore Pub (pictured at top) has been a fixture for twenty years and their beer cellar is a beer nerd’s dream. The ten-page-long beer list is big on variety and small on type size with 900 vintages, ages two to twenty. The whiskey and gin lists are equally impressive, but with so many incredible vintage beers on offer, you’ll be hard pressed to find the time to even look.

Places like Brick Store Pub have become local bastions of community, offering extensive beer lists and hearty meals in a cozy setting perfect for catching up with friends. The beloved Universal Joint is another casual haunt, where the outdoor patio buzzes with activity on game days, and their burger is often called one of the best in the area.

Another favorite spot for beer enthusiasts, Brick Store Pub has been around for 23 years. Nestled on the Decatur Square, this cozy place in a gorgeous historic building is a labor of love of three friends. They offer a variety of beers that you can find nowhere else and even a special Belgian menu, from which you can order to-go.

When Brick Store Pub opened in 1997, it was ahead of its time. The warm interior lacks televisions and beer signs but features a keen attention to detail that beer enthusiasts appreciate. The ground floor channels old school English pub vibes, with beers from around the globe; upstairs, the focus is largely on Belgian brews.

This award-winning beer bar features an extensive list of local and international brews on tap, not to mention a beer garden out back, a cozy bar upstairs, and a bar in the cellar styled after a UK pub serving rare and vintage beers. There’s food, too, including giant soft pretzels, sandwiches, burgers, and fish and chips.

Count on Decatur’s pub fare to hit the spot with interesting and adventurous takes on tried-and-true dishes at Universal Joint, the Marlay, The Brick Store, O’Sullivan’s, the Corner Pub, the Imperial, and Thinking Man Tavern, serving up tacos, barbecue, fried chicken, vegetarian and vegan selections, sandwiches, and more.

The Raging Burrito is an eclectic little restaurants featuring an unusual burrito menu, great margarita's and an excellent patio. The Brick Store is an English style pub with an unbelievable beer list and an excellent menu. If you are willing to walk a few blocks Taqueria Del Sol is about 4 blocks west on Ponce De Leon.

Dreams became reality for three friends from Athens, Ga. when they opened The Brick Store, which stands as the hub for the locals of Decatur. Exposed brick walls and dark wood paneling present an old-style pub atmosphere that is far from traditional. No TVs, no neon, no lame music and no major domestics.

The Brick Store Pub, a Belgian bar located in Decatur, was one of our favorites. We walked into a rustic-style pub with old brick walls, Belgian flags hanging from the ceiling, and bars on the first and second levels. The main bar serves a collection of American, German, and English beer.

125 E Court SquareThis dining hotspot offers great pub fare and adult beverages. Steak, smoked duck, fish and chips, and pork belly sandwich are just some of the scrumptious dishes available. They have an impressive drinks menu that includes Belgian Trappist beer and craft beers.

on Yelp said that her Brick Store Pub’s fish and chips were hot, fresh, and so good. “The fish is flaky and has a hint of spice that is perfect..” She also said that the ale battered codfish was accompanied by house-made remoulade and hand-cut fries.

The most coveted parking spot in town, it is within a few steps to Brickstore Pub, my favorite place to grab a beer, and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams (who can resist?). It is amazing how these 125-year-old buildings have stood the test of time.

With restaurateur Ford Fry behind No. 246, the acclaimed Kimball House located in an old railroad station, not to mention a beer-lover’s heaven at Brickstore Pub, there are more solid food options than time to try them all in Decatur.

What’s Good: Sure, it is one of the country’s best beer bars, but Brick Store is also solid for classic drinks. A legacy of Atlanta’s best bartenders and brewers earned their stripes behind the many taps.

The Brickstore Pub on East Court Square is recognized as the second best beer pub in the world. The three owners were recently knighted in Brussels for their contributions to the Belgian beer tradition.

This timeless beer tavern has a friendly atmosphere and knowledgeable staff, serving up classic pub food with a Southern influence. We can’t stop drooling over their Meatloaf Sammie, pictured above.

Finally, and oldy but a goody, Brick Store Pub in Decatur is home to the largest beer cellar in the US, with 31 rotating selections on tap.

Style: While alcoholic beverages are the main attraction of the Brick Store Pub, they also offer burgers, fish, chicken pot pie, and more.

It’s great people-watching and a nice way to spend an afternoon. Downtown Decatur is one of the most walkable communities in Atlanta.

It’s home to Brick Store Pub and several other great pubs and eateries. There’s also nearby Twain’s for brews and billiards.
