As one of two new Green Star restaurants in Atlanta, we wanted to hear from the team directly about their sustainable practices: "Our menu is dictated by what is available from our local farm partners, as well as our onsite regenerative farmed (beyond organic) garden. This means the menu often changes throughout the week depending on availability. We have recently joined Georgia Organics to help quantify our local and organic food purchases (currently qualify for gold/top tier). We compost on site, as well as utilize a compost company to reduce waste going into the landfill. We also recycle glass, use compostable carryout containers, and are working on improving recycling further.

It’s been really exciting to see Atlanta embrace the Michelin Guide, and we are equal parts grateful and honored to have received the distinctions of One Star and a Green Star,” said Anne Quatrano, the chef-owner of Bacchanalia, the only restaurant to receive both recognition in both top categories. “These awards are an incredibly rewarding way to honor our remarkably talented and dedicated staff and the beautiful work they’ve put in over the last 30-plus years. No, but the Chastain might have you briefly thinking so with its swoon-worthy patio that’s large enough to seat almost as many people outside as the dining room does inside. In the morning, you can order coffee and a breakfast treat from the coffee bar and sit anywhere you’d like (may we suggest the fire pit?). In the evening, you can make a reservation for a seat in the tent or you can grab a first-come-first-serve seat on the terrace for dinner and/or drinks.

You’re bound to see triathlete-looking types biking and running around Chastain Park. Ignore them, because we’d say there are more important things to get into in the park, and The Chastain is one of them. The neighborhood bistro serves Southern dishes like single-serving ramekins of delicious chicken pot pie.

Opened winter 2020, this new American neighborhood bistro still conjures quite the buzz. Set on the edge of Atlanta’s historic Chastain Park in a former roadside country store, The Chastain is helmed by executive chef and operating partner Christopher Grossman and serves unique takes on classic comfort food incorporating locally sourced ingredients and seasonal harvest, some of which comes from the on-site garden. New this season: This holiday season, The Chastain will be offering the following select treats in rotation: chocolate babka for Hanukkah; Christmas sandwich cookies; and cranberry orange bread packed with cranberries, orange and pecans.

Hash out the details over Red Wine Braised Short Rib or Chicken Schnitzel, and end it with an espresso (if you need a pick me up for those deals that don’t end up closing).

Try your luck at any time of day: In the morning, you’ll encounter a coffee shop with a shaded patio, beans from Brash, and some of the best croissants, danishes, and cinnamon rolls around, with many pastries incorporating flour from Georgia’s DaySpring Farms; at night, chef Christopher Grossman’s smart menu boasts approachable but impeccably prepared New American fare: turkey wing with blue cheese and Fresno chili buffalo sauce, ricotta cavatelli with lamb Italian sausage, curry-glazed black grouper, and a famously excellent cheeseburger.

You’ll feel like you’re dining in a picturesque garden at this greenhouse-reminiscent restaurant overlooking Chastain Park. Chef Christopher Grossman once worked under Chef Thomas Keller at the famed Napa Valley institution The French Laundry, and that pedigree shows up on every plate. The New American menu changes regularly to reflect the freshest ingredients of the season, and perennial favorites include the sweet corn and crab soup, smoked pork tenderloin with pimento cheese grits, and chanterelle mushroom tagliatelle.

The new American neighborhood café and restaurant recently debuted a counter-service brunch menu. Features include a chicken salad sandwich with pesto, focaccia, arugula, parmesan and red onion; a cheeseburger with lettuce, pickles, American cheese and caramelized onions; and a tuna bowl with marinated yellowfin tuna, quinoa, garden Napa cabbage, snow peas and sesame vinaigrette. Sample their rotating selection of draft beer, wines by the glass and mimosas on draft, and soak up the sunshine at their ample outdoor seating.

The Chastain in Buckhead is known for featuring seasonal and local ingredients, which means the menu often changes. Brunch menu items include French onion soup, duck confit spring roll, Vonnie's sprouts, a Reuben sandwich, braised lamb flat bread, chicken schnitzel, pan-seared Faroe Island salmon, steak and eggs, chicken biscuit pot pie, pimento cheese grits, pancakes, croissants, breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast and strawberry sheeps milk yogurt.

The magic of THE CHASTAIN is that I can go for coffee and pastries in the morning, or for lunch or dinner, and each experience feels different and unique. I can do a casual breakfast date and sit by the fire in the cold weather, sneak in a lunch date while the kids are at school or dress up and enjoy a delightful dinner by chef Christopher Grossman with great wine. If the weather permits, I can sit in the garden.

It’s hard to find a restaurant in Metro Atlanta without patio seating or some sort of outdoor dining arrangement, whether that be cafe-style sidewalk tables or an indoor-outdoor bar. In the morning, the Chastain features freshly baked pastries from Executive Pastry Chef Christian Castillo and a spot of coffee for those on their way to work. In addition, it offers innovative American fare by night, such as the crown roasted chicken breast entree and tempura okra vegetable side.

The Chastain in North Buckhead is an unpretentious American bistro serving up some of the best food in Atlanta. Many of the ingredients are grown in the restaurant's backyard, and practically everything else comes from local farms. Sommelier Juan Fernando Cortes received the Michelin Sommelier Award last year, so, naturally, the wine list is not to be missed.

On the hunt for biscuits that seriously elevate Southern comfort food?. The Chastain in Buckhead's Chastain Park is definitely the spot to check out. This charming restaurant manages to hit that sweet spot between upscale and cozy, with a menu focused on fresh, local ingredients, many of which come straight from their own garden.

The Chastain, an American neighborhood spot bistro and bar in Buckhead, offers two open-air terraces: the Old Oak Terrace and the South Terrace. The more formal Old Oak Terrace offers a tented dining space and functions as an extension of the dining room, and the South Terrace features a fire pit and lounge seating.

Not only is it a great spot to grab a coffee but also has delicious food as well!

Michelin’s restaurant rating methodology, which dates back more than a century, focuses on five criteria: quality products, harmony of flavors; mastery of cooking techniques; the cuisine’s reflection of the chef’s personality and voice; and consistency (each restaurant is inspected several times a year).

I eat at The Chastain about twice a week because of its proximity to school and I'm always waffling between the equally good breakfast sandwiches and French-style pastries. IDK if they still have it, but there was some sweet salty Argentinean pastry available only on Fridays and it is GOLD.

Chastain Park is a lush area and offers the best of restaurants with outdoor seating, like The Chastain. It's a great eatery serving American comfort food, and a great option for early risers is that the AM Cafe opens as early as 7am weekdays and 8am on weekends.

The restaurant will offer traditional hot cross buns, spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla and studded with citrus candied peel, currants, raisins and sultanas. Orders must be placed by April 15, with pickup available April 15-17. Orders can be placed here.

The Chastain was just recently opened by Chef Christopher Grossman in 2019. The restaurant uses some of the fresh ingredients it grows in its garden. This initiative cuts down the cost for the restaurants therefore meaning more profit for the chef.

Atlanta's outdoor dining scene spans everything from dog-friendly beer gardens to rooftop lounges with skyline views. Many restaurants feature fire pits, heated patios, and covered spaces to extend the season even further.

An exquisite and refined neighborhood restaurant, The Chastain is notably one of the most expensive restaurants in Atlanta offering farm-to-table, New American cuisine in a relaxed setting.

I’ll echo Superica (usually louder so any kiddo noises are drowned out) and The Chastain, although The Chastain is really better for kids when the weather allows for outdoor seating.
