What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
BIMA Bistro is lauded for its delicious French cafe-inspired cuisine and serene ambiance within the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. Diners are pleasantly surprised by the high quality of food and value for money, making it a highlight of their visits. While most experiences are positive, some reviews mention slow service or limited menu options.
"On one hand, as a self-proclaimed "foodie," I'd prefer to keep this place on the down-low. On the other hand, I was so pleasantly surprised by the food, decor, and service at a restaurant that's attached to an art museum that I feel like I have to give a review that this place deserves. The food is French cafe-inspired (thus, a bistro), including menu items like croque madame, cinnamon toast, sandwiches, and French press coffee. The value was wonderful in a city full of inflated menu prices - roughly $10-15 per meal. Service was friendly and very accommodating. Lastly, the atmosphere was calm and relaxing; it is in an art museum, after all. Modern, yet cozy, decor with the windows open on a sunny day provided the perfect setting for a great weekend meal."

"We reserved a table in advance. One other table had a couple sitting with coffees. The menus never came, so we walked to the counter. After ordering, the chicken Caesar salad ($19) took 45 minutes to arrive. It was simple lettuce leaves with croutons and about an ounce of pulled rotisserie (Costco??) meat. I have eaten here before and the soup seems to be a decent fall-back. The impressed."

A Guide to Bainbridge Island: The Nantucket of the Pacific Northwest
On the way back to the boat, stop in at the three-year-old Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA), which is free to visit and has a small but thoughtful range of paintings, films, and objects by Washington State artists. Its cafe, BIMA Bistro, has tasty but hearty dishes like cinnamon brioche toast and croque-madame sandwiches, and the gift shop is a perfect spot to pick up bright paper “box totes” and wrought-metal earrings.
