Reviews Summary
Diners rave about the high-quality food, particularly the crab cakes and breakfast potatoes, often highlighting the charming vintage ambiance and friendly staff. However, several reviews mention extremely slow service, with wait times extending significantly, suggesting potential staffing shortages during busy periods.
"This is a popular local spot known for its delicious Mediterranean-American-diner inspired menu and cuisine. They offer a variety of fresh pita wraps 🫓salads 🥙entrees, often featuring locally sourced ingredients.
The casual atmosphere makes it a great place to grab a quick bite after exploring the beautiful bar harbor area and the light house. It has quite a few vegetarian 🌱 options.
We ordered the chefs special tomato basil soup with grilled cheese sandwich, followed by the Mediterranean platter 🥗, the vegan burger 🍔with a side of house fries🍟
They also have a large selection of home made desserts that you must try, I really wanted to try their blueberry 🫐 stuffed pancakes 🥞 but they didn’t have it that day.
The interiors of this joint is very vintage and rustic, they have a large selection of local 🍺 and wines 🍷that they offer. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the portion sizes are large enough to feed 2 people per dish. Loved everything that we ordered."

"This was the CUTEST little place with such amazing service, food and atmosphere. My husband and I chose this spot on a whim when we first arrived in Southwest Harbor after an 11 hour drive to get here. We needed dinner and we took a chance on this place and we are so glad we did! We were both obsessed with our experience from start to finish. Our server, Liz, was incredible. We highly recommend this hidden gem!"

"Stopped by because of a recommendation and had a lovely dinner. Returned for breakfast a couple days later and it was perfect - would rate it six stars if I could. Whatever is in the breakfast potatoes will fill your belly and your soul. Special thanks to Ana, our server for both dinner and breakfast, who was a huge part of falling in love with this place."

What Makes Southwest Harbor Great?
For lunch and dinner, we recommend Quietside Café and Eat A Pita. Both restaurants are located on Main Street in downtown Southwest Harbor and offer space to dine in or will pack your goodies to hit the road. Quietside Café is often buzzing at night with visitors stopping by for blueberry pie ala mode or an ice cream cone to round out their day of adventuring.
Mount Desert Island: Family Friendly
_On Don’s recommendation, we head up the street to Cafe 2 where we are assured dining with a 16-month-old will be no big deal. Owner Nancy Woodward explains that Cafe 2 is the sister restaurant to Eat-A-Pita (which is what they call the restaurant during breakfast and lunch). I enjoy my first lobster roll of the summer and my husband, Steve, has the filet.
MAINE: ACTIVE DAY ON MOUNT DESERT ISLAND
Another option is to drive into Southwest Harbor and stop at either Eat-a-Pita (which has much more than pita, and offers outdoor seating) or Little Notch Café, which features artisanal breads, pastries, and pizza, all made expertly in their own bakery. (There is also a Little Notch Bakery outpost in Bar Harbor.)
Best Restaurants in Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park
Eat-A-Pita, 326 Main Street ( tel. 207/244-4344), serves pitas, salads, and egg dishes. Sips, 4 Clark Point Road (tel. 207/244-4550) is a wine bar that also happens to have great breakfast crepes, sandwiches, and comfort food-y dinners (great meatloaf).
Acadia National Park (Southwest Harbor & Tremont): Restaurants
Eat-A-Pita is casual fine dining restaurant in the heart of Acadia Park. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, featuring an array of gourmet healthy, homemade dining pleasures for every taste. Take-out is also available to enjoy on your hike
Southwest Harbor, Maine - New England: Dining
Both Sawyer's Market and Sawyers Specialities (wine, beer, some gourmet-type items) might make sandwiches. Cafe Dry Dock and the Hot Dog place may make deli-style sandwiches. But I'm unaware of a pure "deli" type sandwich place in SWH.
Three Exhilarating Days In and Around Acadia National Park
The hotel offers breakfast, but I ventured out and discovered the fabulous home fries at Eat-A-Pita & Cafe 2—an indoor-outdoor breakfast hub less than five minutes away.
