Reviews Summary

Doe's Eat Place is celebrated for its massive, perfectly cooked steaks and renowned Delta-style tamales. Diners consistently praise the warm, welcoming service and the cozy, old-school atmosphere. While the generous portions and unique flavors are major draws, some find the prices to be quite high for the overall dining experience, and occasional issues with steak preparation have been noted.

"Doe's Eat Place has become a staple in the Baton Rouge area. Their steaks and filets are delicious but you need to bring your appetite along with you. The smallest steak is 1.5 pounds, that's a lot of meat to put away. They have some of the best tamales you can find, and the optional Chilli you can get to put over them is FIYA. Staff is always friendly and extremely good at their jobs. There are other options on the menu such as pasta and seafood, as well as some of the best dessert biscuits as a finisher. Give them a try if you're on Government Street."

"Doe's Eat Place, 3723 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA 70806.

While my Restaurant Week review is slightly delayed, I'm pleased to share my experience. Following recommendations, I sampled both the tamales and steak. Although the tamales weren't part of the three-course Restaurant Week menu, they are highly recommended. The three-course meal included mushroom soup, a 24-oz steak with mashed potatoes and collard greens, and a dessert (the name of which I regrettably forgot). I plan to return to Doe's Eat Place to enjoy the tamales again and explore other menu items.

"Always an excellent experience.

I always get the hamburger steak for lunch. The side salad I get with ranch and Italian on the side because they are both so good.

Not seen are the tamales which are also excellent and served with a homemade chili style sauce!

The steaks are huge so I recommend splitting one if you choose !! They are well known for their steaks for sure!"
