Reviews Summary

Eliza Restaurant is celebrated for its modern Creole cuisine, offering a delightful mix of Cajun and New American flavors in a stylish, relaxed setting. While many rave about standout dishes like the shrimp and grits, chicken paillard, and crab cakes, and commend the exceptional service, some reviews note inconsistencies in seasoning or flavor across certain menu items, particularly the gumbo and some appetizers.

"The crab dip appetizer was incredible and the entrees we got were good, but the gumbo was not good. The service was great, as was the atmosphere. Would recommend coming here and I will likely come back, but I wish the food was more consistently great throughout the menu."

"We sat outdoors for our business lunch under perfect weather. Food and service were excellent! My coworker had to change our reservation multiple times due to some unexpected changes and the hostess was very understanding and accommodating. One of my favorite places in Baton Rouge and a must return. I had the fried seafood dish, by far the best fried seafood batch I have had anywhere in a long time! Fried oysters was done perfectly. The light batter was just the perfect amount with enough crunch and flavor. Will definitely return when I am back in Baton Rouge!"

"We made a reservation and got seated as soon as we checked in. Service was good but food took a while to come out. It was a little disappointing that there was no bread or anything to snack on before receiving our appetizers. The place is small and feels cramped, with maybe 8 tables in total and medium-low lights. We first ordered a small cup of the soup of the day to share in case we didn’t like it. The soup was lackluster, we added salt but it was still missing something. However, our entrees were great. I had chicken paillard and my boyfriend had the pork chop. My dish had the perfect balance of flavors and was exquisite. I’ve never had the dish before and it tasted light, fresh, unique and healthy, but still very filling. My boyfriend’s pork chop was thick, juicy, and full of flavor. It was served with grits and some vegetables on the side. Overall, the entrees are a winner and we’d visit again just for that."

Brian the server and young architect: My wife and I have worked in fine dining, Ruth's Chris and Brennan's, New Orleans; most servers find a way to irk me and disappoint. Brian's service was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and friendly without getting in the way of our date. Food: You can scarcely complain about any of the creole and New Orleans fusion served at Eliza; we have been loyal in particular for the gluten free fried seafood.
