What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Juban's offers an upscale dining experience with impeccable service and a sophisticated atmosphere, though some guests found the food to be good but not consistently elite. While the Hallelujah Crab and tuna appetizer receive high praise, other dishes have drawn mixed reviews regarding flavor and execution.
"We went to Juban’s last night for the first time, and we will 100% be back. Juban’s exceeded all expectations with its impeccable service, exquisite presentation, and flavors that left a lasting impression. We ordered for appetizer the Blue Crab Lollipops and Crawfish Wontons, and for main the Lobster 2 Ways and Redfish Adrian. Everything was spot on! It was my wife’s Birthday so they made her feel special with the Praline bread pudding to end the night. The restaurant effortlessly blends sophistication with comfort, making it the perfect spot for an upscale dining experience."

"Came on a recommendation of a friend.
Atmosphere and service were top notch.
Food was good but not elite.
The wedge salad did not have enough blue cheese.
The tuna appetizer was excellent. Highly recommended.
The hallelujah soft shell crab, which seems like their signature dish was just so-so. Soft shell crab was very fresh but I think they only give you half a soft shell crab. The mashed potatoes doesn't go well with the crab. Perhaps if it came with a crab meat risotto, it would make the dish stand out more.
The pecan bread pudding tasted a little stale, dry and it came out mouth burning. They microwaved it a little too long."

"Went for the jazz brunch and got the shrimp toast, shrimp and grits and for a cocktail, an expresso martini. Wasn't crazy about the sauce on the shrimp in grits but I wasn't bad. Shrimp toast was great. The martini I never had before so I decided to try today, was pretty good! The atmosphere was awesome👌"

The Best Restaurants In Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Juban’s, named after owner Carol Juban, is a family-run restaurant with a community feel. In fact, so entrenched is the feeling of community that Juban’s holds quarterly meetings to decide which local project they will support and donate to. This is further cemented by the fact that Juban’s courtyard bar is a popular meeting place for locals keen to try the restaurant’s homemade honey bourbon.
Dining - It is often said there are more restaurants per capita in Baton Rouge than any American city its size. Whether that's urban myth or fact, this much is true: if you're hungry, there is a 225 restaurant that will satisfy any craving.
This was a nail-biter, folks, but ’06 champ Juban’s reclaims their title from last year’s Best Overall, The Chimes, by an oh-so-slender margin of a quarter of a percent. One can hardly find two restaurants more diametrically opposed—Juban’s is more hoity-toity where The Chimes is hoi polloi—but together they form a perfect microcosm of our fair city’s tastes. Hallelujah crab versus crab cake sandwiches, shrimp aubergine versus shrimp po-boys, we love it all, and these two eateries never let us down.
