Reviews Summary

Petit Trois is lauded for its exquisite French cuisine, with particular praise for the Big Mec burger and classic dishes like steak frites and French onion soup. Diners rave about the authentic Parisian ambiance and attentive service, often highlighting specific servers like Jake and Tony. While generally highly rated, some guests have noted issues with seating assignments and a few found certain dishes less impressive.

"A true hidden gem. Who would think you’d find exquisite French dining in a parking lot beside a donut shop? The food is rich in flavor. Seriously. Even the butter is better. I took one bite of the trout and couldn’t believe my tastebuds. The “Pear” cocktail is fantastic. The service was also top tier. The entire staff was warm and friendly with big smiles, waves, and hellos. Our server, Tony, was spectacular. This is absolutely a must try! Trust me, you’ll be back for more."

"Never a bad experience, I’ve loved every meal at Petit Trois.

Exceptional food, great quality, amazing flavors, rich, bold, and filling! May be pricey but you get big portions.

Always gotta get the big Mec. One of the best burgers in LA. The omelette is always perfect. the Croque Madame is one of the few you can find made right in LA. The steak frites are also a must!"

Alex Xander

"Having travelled around the world, I already know how French onion soup tastes, and the same goes with a burger. My wife and I went to Petit Trois expecting a “good” version of these from Chef Ludo. Instead, we were treated to a surprise, an almost magical one.

The soup was divine. The burger, the Big Mec, was heaven bite after bite after bite. It’s a small yet very cozy place, just like a beautiful cafe/bistro in France, and we appreciated the superb service from start to the very finish. And how they appreciated our flying in thousands of miles to (finally) try Chef Ludo’s masterpieces.

Definitely a highlight of our trip. Merci beaucoup, Petit Trois! More power!"

14 Best French Restaurants in Los Angeles For Tasty Bistro Fare

Oodles of butter, fluffy omelettes and a heart-stopping burger covered in bordelaise make Ludo Lefebvre’s Parisian-style bistro (with a strip mall location in Hollywood and fancier sibling in Sherman Oaks) the best place to head for decadent French fare in the city. The menu’s iconic French dishes—steak frites, mussels marinières and a wonderful daytime-only croque monsieur—display the kind of technical precision the hallowed cuisine requires, with an excellent wine list to match. Don’t skip out on the Big Mec, which we consider the city’s best burger, and leave room for one of Petit Trois’s excellent desserts, particularly the chocolate soufflé (only available at the Sherman Oaks location).

After ten-plus years, Petit Trois’s counter remains a charming spot to eat straightforward bistro cooking that doesn’t skimp on butter or garlic. On weekends, dinner at this narrow Hollywood restaurant can feel a bit cramped, but there’s something romantic about drinking cab sauv feet away from the open kitchen, where staff fold delicate omelets with precision and broil french onion soup capped with alpine cheese. Petit Trois also has a more spacious location in the Valley if you want more elbow room.
