Reviews Summary

Bistro du Midi offers an elegant French dining experience with beautiful views of the Public Garden, praised for its flavorful cuisine, particularly brunch items and seafood. While many appreciate the attentive service and charming ambiance, some diners note issues with acoustics and portioning on certain dishes, alongside occasional inconsistencies in food preparation.

"It was a perfectly spring sunny and warm day and the cute yellow chairs gave out invisible vitamin D accordingly. They seemed to have a mini tasting menu for lunch but we didn’t go for it (I was very interested though). Food was pleasant and the waitstaff was polite, BUT it would have been nicer had we not been disturbed with frequent questions like if we were still working on the food when the plates were still more than full obviously. I would definitely come back when the patio is open"

"We had our wedding reception at Bistro du Midi on 6/15/2025 and we had an incredible experience! Catherine was so easy to work with and made sure everything was in place for the day. She also put us in contact with AV support, so we had great music and lighting for the dancefloor.

The food and drinks were amazing and the team was even able to add a custom logo to the menus. The pastry team was also able to create a beautiful custom cake.

Absolutely a 10/10 experience from start to finish. Would absolutely recommend! Thanks again to the staff and events team :)"

"A Taste of Paris in the Heart of Boston
I visited Bistro du Midi on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, and it truly felt like a little slice of Paris in downtown Boston. The location is perfect, right across from the Boston Public Garden and the atmosphere is both charming and serene.

I chose to sit in their full outdoor seating area, which was peaceful, beautifully decorated with flowers, and shaded by large umbrellas, perfect for a warm day. The restaurant also offers a cozy indoor-outdoor section that gives you the comfort of indoor seating with the breeze and vibe of being outside, such a nice touch if you're looking for shade and a more relaxed feel. Inside, there's also a downstairs bar and a private dining room upstairs for more intimate gatherings.

For food, I had the chopped salad with shrimp and the mushroom flatbread; both were absolutely delicious, fresh, and came out quickly. The service was attentive and kind, and the entire experience felt effortless and elevated.

Whether you're a local or just visiting, Bistro du Midi is the perfect place to slow down, enjoy delicious French cuisine, and soak in the beauty of the city. Highly recommend."

31 Best Restaurants in Boston

The light-filled dining room at Bistro du Midi exudes sophistication with exactly the right amount of pretension you’d expect from a French restaurant. It can be difficult to find a true Provençale restaurant in Boston that doesn't veer too closely to heavy-handed brasserie dishes, but Bistro du Midi hits the mark—and throws in some coastal New England for good measure. The heirloom beets salad with lardons, goat cheese, and a hunk of Provençale fougasse bread is almost too pretty to eat, and the sourdough crusted halibut comes in a heavenly curry-shrimp broth.

Back BayFor a classic Francophile brunch spread, look no further than Bistro du Midi. Moules Frites, Croque Monsieurs, and other traditional picks make up the bulk of the menu, but other must-trys include the Prosciutto Benedict with a lemon-chive hollandaise sauce and Duck Confit “Foieffles” (aka Belgian waffles) served with duck confit and corn purée. You might want to spring for a champagne cocktail, but on the other hand, the bouillabaisse Bloody Mary with seared prawn is a worthy order.

Vying for one of the best brunches in Boston is Bistro du Midi, where French meals are just as they should be: lengthy, beautiful and seriously satisfying. Their petit déjeuner flatbread with nduja, prosciutto, potato and a sunny side egg wins for most Instagrammable dish, but duck confit 'foieffles' and citrus cured salmon benedict are close runners-up.
