We waited, and honestly, we’d do it again without hesitation. Bonus: if you're stuck in line and nature calls, there is a hidden restroom inside—just ask.
The place is tiny, so expect a wait, any parties more than 4, you might be waiting for a while. But if you love seafood, there’s nowhere else like it.
Let’s start with the misses: the monkfish was a little too sweet for our taste, and the calamari meatball was softer than I prefer—I like mine a bit firmer. Still, points for creativity; I’ve never had calamari in meatball form before.
Now the highlights:
Fried calamari – super crispy, light on the batter, fried just right.
Steamed clams – the absolute star. I’ve had a lot of clams in my life, and these were hands down the best. Served in a vinegary, sour broth that was so good I practically drank it.
Seafood pasta with tomato sauce – rich, flavorful, and seriously unforgettable.
Black Pasta- Not oily at all, what you expect a pasta to taste like with garlicky flavor.
Service? Friendly, funny, and super efficient. Even gave me a bro hug for finishing it all as he didn't think we could do it.
The only downside is it’s cash only, so come prepared.
Bottom line: If you only have time (and patience) for one restaurant in Boston, make it this one. Worth every minute of the wait."

I honestly don’t understand how this place has such high ratings. My experience here was one of the worst I’ve had dining out — I regret coming and hope this review can help others avoid the same mistake.
First of all: they only accept cash. No signs or warnings until you’re already seated. Very inconvenient in 2025.
1. Cramped, chaotic, and unclean: The place is tiny and feels more like a greasy food stall than a restaurant. It has an open kitchen, and the entire dining area smells like heavy oil and smoke. Worse, I saw staff grabbing food directly with bare hands — both the cooks and the servers. It was honestly disgusting. At one point, while clearing plates, they slammed them so hard that sauce splattered on my face. No apology. 😠
2. Very mediocre food: The seafood platter (for two) came with just one tiny lobster and a mix of seafood that tasted off — there was a strange bitterness to everything. The pasta was just plain dried spaghetti. Their signature black ink pasta? Overwhelmed with garlic and completely flat in flavor. No balance, no finesse.
Overall, this was a complete letdown, both in terms of hygiene and taste. I have no idea how it maintains its reputation, but I will never return, and I suggest others think twice."

"This was one of my favorite places. Came here more than 20 years ago a found it to be the best Italian food we had ever tried. On this visit, after some time, I think the quality is going down a bit. While the appealing of the place is still there with the small restaurant feeling and all the pastas that made it special before, the quality of the cooking is not to that high level it was before. Don’t get me wrong, the pasta was OK, but I did not come here for OK pasta. I came for the best pasta. That did not happen this time. Also, be aware this is a cash only restaurant so you have to prepare to fork $100-150 cash, which it many people carry these days. Give it a try but keep your expectations in check as you may have a better experience."
