Reviews Summary

Trattoria Delia is celebrated for its cozy, romantic ambiance and its authentic, house-made Italian pasta dishes. Diners frequently praise appetizers like duck confit and charcuterie, alongside standout pasta entrees. While the food and atmosphere are largely lauded, some reviews mention that pasta dishes could benefit from more sauce, and the interior decor is noted as being dated by a few patrons. Despite minor critiques, it remains a top choice for special occasions and an excellent Italian dining experience.

"Reserved dinner for party of 5 on short notice on Thursday night at 6:45. Surprised they could take us. Place was pretty busy when we arrived had died down some around 8pm. As is typical of most restaurants in Chittenden County.

Parking is rough. There is a garage down the street, otherwise meters on the various streets in area.

Great Italian cave vibe inside. The servers are top notch, probably the best in the area. The menu isn't very big, but a good selection of drinks, wine, appetizers, pasta dishes, and meat/seafood/vegetarian mains.

The tiramisu was excellent 👌🏻. Cannolli was good.

Definitely a good spot to go out to for a special occasion."

"We visited Trattoria Delia during our first trip to Burlington two years ago and had an incredible experience, so naturally, we made reservations to return on this year’s trip to Vermont. Unfortunately, I think this visit will be our last.

Two years ago, we ordered their meats, and everything was phenomenal. This time, we decided to try their pastas, and it was a mistake. How an Italian restaurant of this caliber can mess up pasta is beyond me, but it was bad. My husband ordered the bucatini all’amatriciana (or maybe it was spaghetti?), and it was anything but amatriciana. The pasta was drowning in a tomato sauce that tasted like Chef Boyardee, the guanciale was barely noticeable, and the whole dish had an overly watery, acidic flavor. It was awful. I ordered the mushroom fettuccine, which was better but still not my favorite. They went way overboard with the cream, throwing off the balance completely.

For dessert, we ordered affogato, but our waitress walked away so quickly we didn’t even have a chance to specify whether we wanted it with amaro or limoncello. She didn’t ask, either, and ended up bringing ice cream without any topping (which was supposed to be included) and with a lackluster presentation.

To be fair, the appetizers were excellent. The duck confit and crostini topped with sardines were both perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The price-to-portion ratio for the appetizers was also great, and we still loved the cozy, romantic ambiance of the restaurant. But there’s no excuse for how disappointing the entrees were. For the price and reputation, we expected so much better."

"My recent visit to Trattoria Delia was an absolute delight, truly living up to its reputation as a consistently excellent Italian dining spot. From the moment I stepped inside, the cozy, rustic ambiance, with its charming Italian cave vibe, enveloped me, promising a wonderful evening. The noise level was perfectly quiet, allowing for easy conversation, which I always appreciate.

The service was impeccable—warm, attentive, and genuinely top-notch. For starters, the antipasto was simply amazing, setting a high bar for the courses to come. For my main, I opted for the gnocchi entree, and it was a revelation – perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful. My dining companion had the filet, which they declared one of the best they had ever tasted.

Of course, no Italian meal is complete without tiramisu, and Trattoria Delia’s did not disappoint. It was utterly excellent; so good, in fact, that I savored every bite and happily took the rest home to enjoy later. While parking can be a bit of a challenge, requiring reliance on meters or a nearby garage, it's a minor hurdle for such a memorable experience. This is definitely a superb choice for a special occasion, and I can’t wait to return."
