Sushi Mambo garners praise for its exceptional sushi, creative rolls, and friendly, personalized service, often highlighted by the owner's recommendations. "I absolutely LOVE this restaurant. Friendly staff and wonderful service! The food is exceptional, and this is our favorite place now!"

"We had 2 different types of rolls. Both we broiled and amazingly delicious. Appetizer of tempura mixed veggies and shrimp. I would recommend this place all day long. Owner operated which makes for even a better experience."

"Sushi Mambo was quite a disappointment to us. I am Japanese and born and raised in the San Francisco area where we have access to great Sushi restaurants. Good sushi starts with good rice. The sushi rice was much firmer than customary. This is due to improper cooking or poor quality rice. The sushi rice was either drastically under seasoned or not seasoned at all. Good sushi also requires quality fish. What we were served was either not fresh or just low quality. It lacked flavor and texture. A large part of a quality sushi restaurant is the presentation. It seems that the staff is unaware of how Maki rolls should be prepared, cut, and presented. Again a large disappointment. The service was adequate and because we had a dog, we dined outdoors so I cannot comment about the atmosphere although I did venture into the restaurant to use the bathroom and was unimpressed with the dacor. It seems to me that whomever designed the interior of the restaurant had little to no guidance or expertise. All in all, it was a very disappointing meal."

The Best Restaurants In Calistoga - Calistoga
Sushi Mambo used to have a location in downtown Napa, but they closed and moved to Calistoga in 2016. There’s not much of a scene here, but that’s OK since it’s an ideal spot to relax and have some high-quality sushi and other Japanese dishes. There’s no wrong order here, with two pages of sashimi and simple rolls, but we tend to gravitate towards the more creative ones like the Diablo, which combines a spicy tuna and hamachi roll, and then gets topped with salmon and albacore sashimi, and a sriracha hot sauce.

Preparations are traditional and unconventional at this sushi and country-Japanese restaurant whose owner vows diners will not leave hungry. The menu's diversity might daunt you into sticking to the familiar, but don't overlook offbeat items like the Fungus Among Us (tempura mushrooms stuffed with spicy tuna), Batman Roll (eel and cream cheese), and Hottie (deep-fried panko shrimp with spicy tuna).
