Sutton's Drug Store is a beloved Chapel Hill institution praised for its nostalgic atmosphere and classic diner food, particularly burgers and shakes. Reviewers highlight the incredibly friendly staff and the unique experience of dining amidst decades of local history. While most experiences are positive, occasional service hiccups and minor issues with menu pricing have been noted, but the overall sentiment remains overwhelmingly favorable.

"Still perfect after all these years. I used to eat lunch here twice a week when I was a student at UNC Chapel Hill. 40 years later and I get to bring my family back. I got the burger with chili and slaw and a side of fries. It was a good as I remember. The staff is incredibly friendly and it's so much fun to look around at all the photos and history. I wouldn't change a thing about this place."

"Their biscuits are AMAZING!!! So fluffy and tasty. They’re not crumbly like some are, and they don’t leave that weird mouthfeel like a lot of places do. They taste like fresh, homemade biscuits. I’m obsessed, with a little jam and butter they give you on the side🤤. I’ve never had biscuits outside of home taste SO good."

Stephanie Johnson

"Awesome breakfast and lunch spot right on Franklin St. This place is a time capsule of memories for over a century of UNC students and guests. Stop by and grab a meal while browsing 100s of patron pictures hanging all around the restaurant!"

Sutton’s Drug Store: A Chapel Hill fixture since 1923, Sutton’s is probably better known for its diner-style fare and family-like atmosphere than it is for ever being a pharmacy (CVS took over the pharmacy portion in 2014). They’re famous for their burgers, except on Tuesdays and Thursdays when you can get 2 hot dogs plus fries for $3.25. Photographs paper every possible surface, a tradition owner Bill Woodward began back in 1983- look closely and you’re bound to find a famously familiar face or two (or even perhaps your own!).
