What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Estadio is celebrated for its vibrant Spanish-inspired tapas and exceptional drinks, creating an intimate and fun atmosphere. Diners rave about standout dishes like Gildas skewers and unique churros, alongside a strong gin and sherry selection. While generally praised, some reviews note stingy serving sizes on certain items.
"Times here: 6+ I'm a huge fan of Estadio. This cozy Spring Street gem has been serving up killer Spanish-inspired drinks and uniquely tasty bites for some time, and I've been remiss in not reviewing it till now.
Briefly, you get Spanish fare in a small / large plate format, with a heavy emphasis on anchovies, olives, piquant peppers, pork and general texture mastery. For drinks, think effervescent cocktails, heavy on gin & citrus, plus vermouth, sherry, sangria and a bevy of bright, affordable, crushable wines. Oh yeah, the Estadio bar also rocks a strong porron game. (A porron is a mystical shortcut to elevate or end your night, depending on your constitution.)
While the dishes rotate fairly quickly, some of my stalwart favorites include the savory olive-black anchovy-pepper Gildas skewers, the piping hot and addictive pigs in a blanket, and the sublime brick chicken, which is my favorite chicken dish in Charleston, and that's saying something.
It's a gem of a restaurant that deserves your support - but if you don't take my word for it, visit Estadio and check it out for yourself. The happy hour is strong, the bar service excellent (shoutout to Grayson here) and the vibes convival, interesting, and casual.
Expect to spend about about $50+ per person if you're drinking booze. Parking can be tricky, but you're on foot or have a driver, right? Right. Carry on."

"Awesome atmosphere, food and prompt service. Manchego cheese and Serrano ham with pigs in blanket to start, BBQ ribs and Flank steak were on point. Finish with the chocolate churros. Thank you Estadio team!"

"I had a great time in this place. Food was incredible. I was hungry and ordered the steak that was awesome, tender, soft and juicy. I had also scallops and the sauce was magnificent, crunchy by the almonds and a little bitter that balances the whole flavor.
Churros are a must! They are not like the typical churros. Just try them"

The Ultimate Foodie Guide to Charleston
This tapas spot in the trendy Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood is buzzy, casual, and intimate, feels like you’re in Spain, and the food and wine is so good!. Great spot to meet friends for tapas or for a little date night. Tucked into a court a few blocks from King Street, Spanish-inspired specialties fill the menu, like flavor-packed local shrimp, crudo, an Iberian twist on pigs in a blanket ( you have to order it !) , and the wine list is one of my favorites.

Brandon McDaniel of Brandon’s Bread is having similar conversations with the chefs at Lost Isle, The Pass, Estadio and Chubby Fish, who are pairing his sourdough and focaccia with everything from tuna belly and parsnips to Spanish meats and cheeses. He even prepared Australian bread for a Charleston Wine + Food Festival event at Vern’s with a guest appearance from a Michelin Star restaurant from down under.

If you’re looking for something other than Southern fare, you might try the Spanish-style tapas at Estadio Charleston. This intimate 39-seat restaurant serves aromatic paella. Or try the steak grilled in a South American style that the Post and Courier’s critic described as “rich and robust” and one of the restaurant’s edible highlights.
Our Top 50: Eating well
Estadio, which opened on Spring Street in October 2019, is technically the second outpost of a successful Washington, D.C., Spanish-style bar and tapas restaurant. The decor and the deep sherry and gin selection echo the D.C. original, but executive chef Alex Lira’s impressive menu is unique to Charleston.
