Jasmine Porch at The Sanctuary highlights Lowcountry comfort food (think shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, roast chicken) in a family-friendly setting, while the poolside Loggerhead Bar and Grill is a great spot for easy-breezy coastal bites. “Then there’s the Ocean Room, the nicest restaurant at the resort,” says McQuade. “It’s an upmarket steakhouse with such an elegant atmosphere; you almost feel like you’re in the dining room of the Titanic.

The perfect poolside cocktail and mouth-watering Mahi tacos await at Loggerhead Bar, one of several dining options within the sprawling Kiawah Island Golf Resort (this one is at The Sanctuary Hotel, specifically). Dining and bar service are open to everyone, even those not staying at the hotel—but you can’t use the pool unless you’re a guest, alas. Nonetheless, we love this spot for casual lunches with a view of the pool and the Atlantic Ocean… the perfect setting for savoring the best of island life.

Loggerhead Grill is a seasonal restaurant open from May until November. This incredible dining spot offers views of the Atlantic and the Sanctuary Pool, enhancing that whole island feeling. Complementing the enchanting setting is the menu which has a variety of gourmet sandwiches, fresh salads, wraps, and burgers, which couple perfectly with their hand-crafted cocktails.

Beaches and cream serves gourmet ice cream and frozen yogurt as well as candies, pralines and breakfast pastries. Jasmine Porch serves the island’s grand buffet breakfast and Lowcountry fare in the dining room and on the terrace. Overlooking the hotel’s outdoor pools the Loggerhead Grill offers icy beverages made of fresh fruit and fruit juices as well as American fare.

Enjoy a light lunch (and a frozen cocktail or two) poolside at Loggerhead Bar & Grill at The Sanctuary before challenging yourself to a round of golf where the pros play. Tee it up at the Pete Dye-designed course rated “No. 1 Most Difficult Golf Course in the Country,” or head to The Spa at The Sanctuary to relax and unwind instead!.

The Loggerhead Gril l is your poolside option for drinks on Kiawah Island. You’ll have to be a guest at the Sanctuary Resort to access the pool, but the bar and grill are both open to the public every day from 11 a.m to 5 p.m. The Grill also hosts a Family Seaside Buffet every Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The Sanctuary’s family pool and adult infinity pool overlook the beach. A beach concierge can provide beach chairs, umbrellas and towels. The Loggerhead Grill offers food and beverage service to guests at both the pool and the beach.

Loggerhead Grill: Situated at the Sanctuary Hotel pool, this is a great spot for lunch after swimming. We ate here with the kids and the food and drinks are great after a day at the beach and pool.

We had a particularly nice lunch at the Loggerhead Grill overlooking the Sanctuary’s pool area, and I was impressed with the children’s menus throughout the resort.
