Reviews Summary

The Daily Cafe - King St is praised for its creative coffee drinks and delicious, unique toast options, with many highlighting the avocado toast as a favorite. While the food and service generally receive high marks, some diners note that it can be on the pricier side and seating can be scarce during peak hours, occasionally leading to long waits.

"Lovely breakfast café with lots of health food and vegan options. Delicious smoothie and bonus point for adding protein. The latte was perfect for this chilly day. For two people we ended up spending $60 on breakfast so just keep in mind it runs on the more expensive side. Parking lot on site, and a small seating area. I was a little bummed that we couldn’t get a table because individuals were taking up four seats, but we were able to squeeze in a small spot at the breakfast bar. If it was a nice day, there is plenty of seating outside among greenery."

Beck Green

"We had a second brunch at The Daily. The ordering line was kinda long but we were able to save some seats. The place was pretty radiant with indoor and outdoor seating but this particular day was cold so most people opted to sit inside.
We ordered :
1. Whipped feta toast made with fresh baked sourdough top with whipped feta, drizzled with local honey, chives, and cracked black pepper
2. Breakfast sandwich that was so good with bacon, egg, smoked onion jam and pimento cheese and it tasted so good.
3. Spring-ish veggies hash was perfect meal for me with romesco sauce, roasted carrots, mushroom, and bok choy, kale, and over easy egg....so so good.
The food came in fair amount of time and someone made sure we had our cups of water filled and our empty plates cleared up.
I really like this place and will be back to try out their coffees."

Patricia Powers (Cypressbranch)

"The best coffee and breakfast place!! The 3 egg burritos is just amazing. The lemon coffee and upside down coffee are must try. We had a 30 min wait and tables are fast occupied. Really great outdoor seating! Their almond milk is house made so a definite try."

Best Local Coffee Shops in Charleston, SC: Black Tap, Kudu, Muddy Waters & More

When it opened The Daily a while back, the spot quickly gained a local following. This place has some great coffee from Stumptown, cold juices, to-go items, growler fills, and hell, even last-minute gifts (it has a well-curated selection of cookbooks and local items). But at the end of the day, it’s the coffee that keeps people coming back...

The “Summer-ish” salad at The Daily proves that salads don’t have to be boring, and can even be a little indulgent. Executive chef and kitchen manager Mark Fivecoat wanted to step outside of the typical salad and vinaigrette combination and brought something fresh to the table for summer. The “Summer-ish” salad features lettuce from Vertical Roots, Cherokee heirloom tomatoes, roasted rainbow carrots seasoned with aleppo pepper, sumac-chive yogurt dressing, za’atar pita crumble, benne seeds and The Daily’s signature whipped feta.

Of course, Charleston's location near the ocean makes it a great spot for fresh seafood, and restaurants like Gillie's Seafood, Nana's Seafood & Soul Uptown and 167 Raw – an oyster bar that's popular for its oyster selection and lobster rolls – will deliver. During peak tourist season, waiting for a table at one of these eateries can turn into a long night. If you already know where you'd like to dine while in Charleston, make reservations before you get into town.

Three murals are still up — two on King, one on Calhoun,” Shepard said of the public artworks he created for a 2014 show at the College of Charleston’s Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art, six years after he designed the campaign-defining “Hope” poster of Barack Obama. “There still aren’t a ton of murals in Charleston because of the historical preservation, but I think the appreciation for street art is growing.
