What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Restaurant Constance is lauded for its exceptional farm-to-table approach, creative and flavorful dishes, and warm, personalized service. Many guests rave about unique flavor combinations and the commitment to fresh, seasonal ingredients. However, some diners have experienced issues with inconsistent timing regarding table readiness and a strict 90-minute dining limit, which can detract from the overall experience, especially given the price point.
"One exceptional dining experience. The ambiance at Constance is warm, elevated, and never too loud—perfect for truly enjoying your meal. Every dish was crafted with care, and our server and the GM made us feel completely taken care of. You can tell the small size allows the chef and team to focus on quality and attention to detail. We didn’t feel rushed, just grateful. Already recommended to all my friends in Louisville. Still dreaming about that kale salad!"

"It was our first time dining here and we had an 8:30 reservation. Our table wasn’t ready until about 8:50 and they have no waiting area or even a bench so we had to stand by the door for 20 minutes. The hostess did ask if we wanted drinks while we stood there, so we ordered some. Once we were finally seated, it was the table next to the bathroom…The hostess mentioned as she seated us that each table has a 90 minute time limit but said that we didn’t have to worry about that - since we were the last reservation of the night it seemed. Kind of odd to mention the time limit considering our table was not ready until 20 minutes past our reservation time. Our server brought us free bluefin tuna nori wraps to make up for the wait. Not something we would usually order since we don’t prefer raw fish but it had good flavor. Nothing else was discounted on our bill. Got the Dear Rosemary mocktail that had good flavor but had big sprigs of rosemary that aren’t ideal to sip. Also ordered the Moonlight Mile mocktail which had a very faint flavor so would skip that one for $13 price tag. Ordered arancini to start which were pretty looking but the filling didn’t have much flavor. My scallop entree was good and probably my favorite bite. My husband’s short rib dish wasn’t very warm and it was a little too smoky and heavy. The blueberry shortcake biscuit had potential but the biscuit itself didn’t seem fresh and didn’t have much flavor. The chocolate miso tart was somewhat enjoyable. Spent $248 total. Wish we loved our experience for that price but unfortunately we will not be planning another visit."

"First time visiting Restaurant Constance after hearing all the chatter. Definitely enjoyable and will return. Space is as cozy and casual as expected (former Counter 1.0); noise level was reasonable (although most tables were 2 people rather than the 4 that might be seated so noise level might increase if full) and background music pleasant and reasonably contemporary. In-restaurant menu mostly matched the web site and no real surprises (they do a 3 course for $65 on Tuesday and Wednesday it seems and a very approachable wine and non-alcoholic cocktail list). Really enjoyed the Chicken Wraps and Scallops although the Pork Loin was just a smidge on the dry side in the center. They do have a shorter (90 minute) standard seating duration which they maybe "over emphasized" (even to giving us dessert menus during the main course only about 45 minutes into the meal). Overall, other than maybe a little more subtlety indicating the seating duration that is not much we would suggest and look forward to seeing how the menu changes with the seasons."

Restaurant Constance is one of just a few farm-to-table spots in Charlotte, and they’ve mastered the art of making every dish perfectly, neatly splittable. For date night, divvy up the soft-shell crab bao buns and the cast-iron jalapeño cornbread (which is really just a savory shovel for Constance’s house pimento cheese dip, rosemary honey butter, and pepper jelly trio). Solo, you could build a three-course seafood dinner out of the bluefin tuna nori wraps, an asparagus and blue crab salad, and Nantucket scallops or sake-marinated swordfish.
