Rembrandt’s Coffee House is named after the great Dutch artist of the 17th century Rembrandt van Rijn. The coffee house is housed inside a French style stucco building in the Bluff View Art District that was redeveloped during the 1990s and now contains artisan bakeries, a sculpture garden, the River Gallery, and is just a minute walk from the Hunter Museum of American Art on the Tennessee River. Rembrandt’s Coffee House was opened in 1994 and has since picked up countless awards and plaudits from the press.

Eating at a new restaurant, drinking coffee at Rembrandt’s, walking on the bridge, wondering what the coming days (months, years…) have in store. The excitement of a new relationship…which, in our case anyway, eventually gave way to the excitement of a longterm (i.e. lifelong) relationship, but the kind where holding hands and talking about when we first met (at Chuck E. Cheese’s, where I was convinced that he hated me for months before we eventually became friends-we didn’t date until much later) never gets old. Or just hanging out on the couch and pretending like the rest of the world doesn’t exist, which is what we do most nights.

Bite into hand-made chocolate filled with whiskey (must be 21!) and sip on a steamy latte on the patio at Rembrandt’s Coffee House while literally smelling the next batch of beans being roasted a few hundred feet away. Choosing between the create-your-own-combo house-made angel hair pasta with wild mushroom tomato sauce or the chicken and spinach cannelloni from Tony’s Pasta Shop & Trattoria is a tough choice to make - but we know you can do it. And they never forget to give you Bluff View Bakery’s giant-roasted-garlic-clove-infused bread.

After a peaceful night’s sleep, minus a few nightmares from visiting room 311, I headed to Rembrandt’s Coffee House for breakfast. Rembrandt’s is located in Chattanooga’s Art District, which is only a five minute drive from The Read House. It has been my favorite coffee house since my first visit about 10 years ago and every time that I go, I try to get something new.

No list of coffee shops would be complete without Rembrandt’s in Bluff View!. If you consider yourself a coffee snob, this wouldn’t be the first place we’d send you, but for its location, ambiance and DESSERTS, Rembrandt’s had to make the cut. Bring the kiddos and share a sweet treat out on the patio, which looks like a scene straight out of Italy.

On our drive back into the city, we went by Rembrandt’s Coffee House, which is in the Bluff View Arts District – one of my favorite parts of Chattanooga!. Their baked goods are incredible – pastries and fresh baked bread, too. We took a quick walk around the district, which is very small, and realized pretty quickly that we had to come back!

The architectural details from another home that stood where Rembrandt’s patio now was salvaged and preserved, while being placed and built into the interior designs of the District’s beautifully restored properties.

When we think of Thursdays, there’s a coziness that comes with it, and Rembrandt’s Coffee House has to be one of Chattanooga’s coziest spots. The indoor + outdoor space perfectly encapsulates a Thursday vibe — all you need is a cappuccino and a Russian tea cookie to accompany you.

This wonderful European-style café is part of the Bluff View Art District. Breakfast is part of the stay at the Bluff Art Bed & Breakfast, and the food is wonderful. Each morning I chose tea for my breakfast drink, but Keith enjoyed coffee made by Rembrandt’s Roasting Company.
