Taco Mamacita // A member of the Monen Family restaurant group, Taco Mamacita serves up a variety of Tex-Mex and fusion tacos (and Peruvian style chicken). They’re not the most authentic tacos in Chattanooga, but they’re great when you want something a little more in the “guilty pleasure” camp. My usual order was the 2 Tacos + Side deal, with the Sloppy Jose and California Club tacos and sweet potato fries.

This isn’t your typical Mexican restaurant, but Taco Mamacita does serve mouth-watering eats. According to the restaurant, Taco Mamacita “is a ‘Fresh-Mex’ restaurant specializing in funky-fusion tacos.” Try their shrimp po’boy BLT, loaded gyro, or hot chicken tacos to get a taste of their unique menu. Check out their locations in Northshore, Hamilton Place, and Nashville, if you feel like a drive.

One of Chattanooga’s favorite Mexican food hubs is Taco Mamacita, a Mexican-Peruvian eatery featuring tacos, rotisserie chicken and cocktails with a cool ambiance. Although not necessarily the go-to for authenticity, this is a great place to bring the kiddos or to enjoy the nice weather on their patio. This is a great lunch stop (though it works for dinner, too.) Taco Mamacita offers more than tacos, but the tacos are so good we overlook everything else. Grab two tacos with a side; the plantains are my fave, though the jalapeno corn slaw is jammin’ as well. And if you can, plan for a Sunday lunch because sangrias are ½ price after 11:30am.

At $9.99 it’s a great deal, plus you’ve probably never had tacos like some of the ones on offer: Perhaps one with jerk chicken and mango salsa?. Or maybe fried chicken with pickles and honey hot sauce?. You can get other stuff (in the section called, um “other stuff”) such as enchiladas or Peruvian chicken.

Tex-Mex at its Finest When it comes to tex-mex, Taco Mamacita does it best. This eatery features a modern, eclectic menu where the taco is supreme, with a full bar and covered patio. Everything is made fresh, in house daily (including their famous margaritas).

Taco Mamacita has several vegan options and the servers seemed to clearly understand “vegan.” I don’t recall the names of the tacos that I tried but they were delicious.

Their soup is delicious as the weather starts to cool down, most of the tacos can be made GF with the swap of corn tortillas and their Enchiladas are fantastic!
