We started our morning with breakfast at Whitebird, a super cute spot connected to The Edwin Hotel. This place was so adorable on the inside, but not going to lie – I was less than impressed with the service. It was very obvious they were not happy we were attempting to eat without reservations on a Saturday morning, yet the restaurant was nearly empty and they sat us in less than 10 minutes.

The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. Not only did they provide me with a warm welcome, but they also offered great recommendations from their diverse menu.

As the in-house restaurant at The Edwin Hotel, Whitebird has a prime location along Walnut Street just a few steps away from the famed walking bridge. Their “artful Appalachian cuisine” includes such dishes as smoked beets, fried green tomatoes, whiskey-braised barbecue pork belly, crab cakes, and freshwater trout roasted in butter.

Whitebird is our favorite spot for stylish fine dining in the city, and one of the best restaurants in Chattanooga if you’re after an elevated experience. They have a modern American menu that features classic Tennessee flavors. The ambiance is trendy and chic and the dishes tend to fall on the pricier side of things.

The newly constructed and stylishly contemporary Edwin Hotel offers guests two places to sip cocktails. The bright modern Whitebird just off the lobby and the Whiskey Thief rooftop bar. One Saturday this fall, CaptK and I did a taste test at both establishments.

Whitebird - Upscale southern cuisine in the posh Edwin Hotel (20 steps from the Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge). If we had one more night, I would have tried to book us dinner here.

If you want a full dinner, consider starting your evening with a cocktail and appetizer at Whiskey Thief, then head down to the main floor's restaurant, The Whitebird, for dinner.

Go eat at Whitebird or Whiskey Thief and surprise her with an overnight stay. Make a spa appointment for the next morning. Boss move that I bet pays dividends.
