Tortilleria Garcia owner Omar Garcia spent his childhood on a corn farm in Michoacan, Mexico, where, in the aftermath of each harvest, his family would come together to transform the corn into masa (the essential dough for crafting authentic tortillas). It was within this nurturing environment that Omar's mother and grandmother imparted the family recipes that now form the heart and soul of Tortilleria Garcia. Embracing their love for fresh, wholesome food, Omar now shares this tradition with anyone who walks through the doors of his three Cincinnati restaurants located in the neighborhoods of Springdale, College Hill, and Mason.

Garcia has committed to honoring his family's culinary history and his restaurants uncompromisingly follow the family recipe for fresh tortillas — never using flour or preservatives. Garcia's menu, which is mostly under $15, consists of straightforward Mexican classics like tamales, burritos, housemade salsas and rotisserie chicken, in addition to tacos.

Not unlike Harris, Chef Omar Garcia has also opened up a love letter to his roots in Cincinnati. His ancestors come from Michoacan, Mexico, where the young foodie grew up watching his mom and grandmother grinding up corn on their family farm to make tortilla masa. His dough is made without the use of flour or chemical preservatives across three locations in the area.

Tortilleria Garcia, with locations in College Hill, Mason, and Springdale, is a place to go when you are craving Mexican food. It is “always fresh, authentic, and handmade.” Your meal is made quickly in front of you. They have Horchata and Tres Leches Cake, which are my personal favorites.

Which is why I love Tortilleria Garcia in College Hill, where the tacos don’t just satiate you, they transport you to Omar Garcia’s childhood in Michoacan, Mexico, where Omar’s grandmother would make tortillas with corn from the family farm and fill them with carnitas or shredded chicken.

Tortilleria Garcia is arguably the greatest location to get tacos in the northern suburbs of Cincinnati. This taco stand, located in the middle of Springdale, serves some of the city’s most genuine Mexican meals. On Tuesdays, they have tacos for a ridiculously low price of $2 apiece.
