Reviews Summary

RED the Steakhouse Downtown is celebrated for its exceptional steaks, often hailed as the best in Cleveland, with perfectly cooked cuts and a delightful complimentary dessert. Diners also rave about the attentive service and chic ambiance, particularly the rooftop views. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, some patrons found certain non-steak pasta dishes to be less satisfying for the price.

"Best steak and lamb we have ever had. I've traveled around the country and have been at some of the top steak restaurants in Vegas, so this was a gem to discover. The complimentary birthday donut balls were a surprise & delicious. The service was great. No complaints.

Highly recommend this place."

"My son loved the steak. I had some type of pasta with sausage. For the price of the pasta I would have expected more sausage in it. I was excited for all the non-steak options. Usually when we visit steak places there’s only one dish for me to choose. Donut dessert was yum! Service was excellent!"

"In town for a weekend away. Went to the Guardians game and then were quickly on the hunt for dinner. We perused East 4th street and were met with a lot of long wait times for a table. It was a Saturday might at 7:30 pm so this didn’t necessarily come as a surprise.

What did come as a surprise was walking into Red and being seated, on the rooftop no less, right away.

We were greeted by our server Cassandra who was able to provide cocktail and appetizer recommendations. These were the first of her recommendations that she did her best impersonation of Jose Ramírez and knocked them out of the park 😉

I got an old fashioned and my wife got a strawberry 75. Next came the whipped ricotta with olive oil and dill, and man was it good. Served with grilled bread for dipping, we would have ordered another round if it weren’t for our entrees that were on their way.

My wife got the filet, at the recommendation of Cassandra, and loved every bite of it. I had a craving for salmon so that’s what I ordered. Before ordering, I asked Cassandra her opinion of the dish and she candidly shared it was good but not something that would blow you away. She was right, again. I enjoyed the salmon but for a future trip to Red I would consider an alternative entree.

We ordered the mac and cheese as a side and were not disappointed. I’ll give you one guess if Cassandra recommended it…yeah, she did. She knows the menu inside and out.

No dessert for us as we were stuffed.

Can’t recommend Red, enough. Great view from the rooftop, knowledgeable server, and we weren’t rush. Truly a great meal and experience at Red to end the night."

For Michael, a guys’ night out means a rib-eye steak at Red. About once a month, he and his buddies gather at this clubby steakhouse and Michael always orders the same thing. “It’s just a perfect, delicious, prime, dry-aged piece of meat.” He orders his medium-rare, with potatoes au gratin and a big glass of red wine.

50 Most Popular Restaurants That Have Closed Permanently Due to the Pandemic

As further proof, if any were needed, that even restaurants run by world-famous celebrity chefs can’t necessarily survive the pandemic, Wolfgang Puck has announced that he will not reopen his eight-year-old upscale steakhouse in the MGM Grand Detroit casino. Though he hasn’t specifically blamed the effects of the coronavirus for the closure, the restaurant has been dark throughout the course of the pandemic, and business would now be restricted as Michigan has reopened casinos with only limited capacity. Earlier this year, two other Puck properties shut down — Five Sixty in Dallas and The Source in Washington, D.C.
