Rising Star coffees are roasted in the Hildebrandt Building, a retrofitted industrial meatpacking factory located in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood.

The former tenant of the Blue Sky Brews location was, in fact, Rising Star, which moved out in November 2019. Despite this betrayal to the area, Rising Star is still great. A favorite across the entire city, Rising Star has locations all around, with one in The Arcade downtown, one in the Edgewater neighborhood and a recently opened location right in the center of Tremont, among others.

No one can ever say that the folks at Rising Star aren’t serious about their coffee. If you want one of the best espresso drinks you can find in town, hit up one of their five locations, the Downtown version of which is in the Hyatt Regency in the Old Arcade. From a central roastery come some of the finest beans in town, which are imported, roasted, and shipped to local shops. There they become perfect cups of coffee, which are offered alongside pastries and other small bites.

Coffee connoisseurs sing the praises of Rising Star baristas, who are as knowledgeable as their keenly sourced coffee is potent. About a mile down Madison, Rising Star Coffee Roasters is a Cleveland-based mini-chain that had been sharing space with a local brewery before opening its own cafe. Play Grounds Café serves parents coffee from local roaster Phoenix Coffee Company while the kids play in “The Fort.
