Brassica in the Short North

With a sprinkle of smoky paprika and lemony sumac, the hand-cut fries at Brassica go perfectly with whatever roasted, pickled or spiced ingredients you choose while navigating the build-your-own line. Brassica, from the owners of Northstar Cafe, debuted in the Short North in 2015 and now has four central Ohio locations (plus two outside Cleveland). Its name is another term for cruciferous vegetables such as kale, cabbage, cauliflower, beets and radishes — all of which get treated deliciously for inclusion in its sandwiches, salads and hummus bowls.

Another beloved local restaurant chain, Brassica is a fast-casual Mediterranean eatery with locations in Short North, Bexley, Easton, Upper Arlington, and Shaker Heights. Inspired by owners and brothers Darren and Kevin Malhame’s Lebanese grandfather, Brassica serves authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. They also have a laudable mission to support local and sustain the health of our planet, taking great care in choosing locally sourced ingredients from farmers and local artisans.

Brassica - This is an assembly line style fast casual spot (ok I’ll say it – a Mediterranean Chipotle) with high flavor that is affordable and DELICIOUS. They have bowls, sandwiches, wraps with whatever combination of vegetables, proteins, sauces and toppings you want – we loved the chicken shwarma with pickled vegetables, and super creamy hummus, but I feel like you can’t really go wrong with any mix!. This is a must try place in Columbus!

I’ll be honest and tell you that I probably wouldn’t have chosen to eat at Brassica on my own but I’m so glad it was recommended and that I decided to take that recommendation. Brassica is located in the Short North neighborhood and is full of incredibly colorful and flavorful Mediterranean food. You can choose a salad or sandwich and top it with as many toppings as you’d like!

Their carefully-chosen ingredients feature organic, whole-wheat pita, artisan tahini and organic chickpeas, antibiotic-free meats, and nutritious vegetables from a wide network of local growers. Choose from a housemade pita or bowl of greens with lentils and rice. Choose from falafel, chicken, brisket, glazed bacon, or simply vegetarian.

At Brassica, customize a bowl or sandwich of your choice with Mediterranean flair for a nutritious lunch that’ll fuel you for hours. Housing several independent vendors, including Momo Ghar (Himalayan dumplings) and Hoyo’s Kitchen (traditional Somali cooking), the 147-year-old North Market offers diverse, affordable bites under one roof.

Originating right here in Ohio, Brassica honors the owners’ grandfather who immigrated to America from Lebanon in 1920. Today, Brassica welcomes guests to a build-your-own sandwich and salad experience of wholesome, organic, and healthy local ingredients. Their service may be quick, but they never skip out on quality or flavor.

If you’re looking for fast-casual, but still nice dining, Brassica is the way to go. Brassica is a build-your-bowl style Mediterranean eatery. Owners and brothers, Kevin & Darren, opened the restaurant, and named it as “an ode [to] a family of vegetables known for their serious nutrition.

The Brassica menu is probably like nothing you’ve ever tasted — Trust me when I tell you to give it a chance. The lunch we had at Brassica is one of the best I’ve ever eaten. This quick-service restaurant makes for a perfect lunch while shopping in Short North.

Though the staff was very friendly, they were not informative. I am allergic to wheat/gluten, I let the staff know, and two workers assured me that the selections I picked were gluten/wheat free. Within the hour after eating here, I was having a huge reaction.

Nothing sounds better than Mediterranean made easy, and no one does it better than Brassica. You basically get to create your own pita or salad with their huge assortment of food and ingredients. And to complement the taste, everything looks so beautiful.

Brassica is just like Chipotle, but with a Mediterranean twist. For vegans, I recommend the falafel or vegetable bowl. They’re both packed with tons of flavor and it’s impossible to leave feeling hungry!

Brassica is new to me and I feel that my life is a little bit better for having tried it!. It is owned by the same folks as Northstar. The way you order your food is a lot like Piada or Chipotle.
