What Travellers Say

Reviews Summary

Pistacia Vera is celebrated for its exceptional French pastries, especially its renowned macarons and chocolate bomb. Diners praise the high-quality ingredients and the charming German Village ambiance, though some note the expense. While coffee and other baked goods are generally well-received, the limited outdoor seating and higher price point are occasional drawbacks.

"My wife introduced me to Pistacia Vera. She spoke highly of the macaroons and how they were so much better than another place she'd previously visited regularly.

I finally decided to try it out, and although I didn't have the macaroons, what I did have was excellent. I had the Lemon Tart and the chocolate bombe.

It's a small place, and it was very busy when I went. However, the service was quick and friendly, so being temporarily cramped for space wasn't a big issue.

They do have outdoor seating, so that's a plus on nice weather days. Overall, my visit to Pistacia Vera was well with it, and I'd recommend everyone try them out."

"Great Coffee & Pastries, But Your Wallet Might Cry a Little

Just popped into Pistacia Vera for a caffeine and pastry fix, and while I enjoyed it, my bank account gave me a stern look. It's definitely a "good, but expensive for what you get" kind of place.

Let's talk lattes: The Pistachio Latte was good, no doubt, but honestly, it didn't quite hit the "$9 good" mark for me. Surprisingly, the Honey Butter Latte, at $1.50 less, was actually the standout – way better value and flavor.

On the pastry front, they do a solid job. The Almond Croissant was absolutely fantastic, flaky and delicious. The eclair was good, and the lemon tart was just okay. So, a mixed bag, but some definite highlights.

Look, I'd probably go back, especially for that honey butter latte and another almond croissant. However, be prepared for the price tag. My family dropped around $40 for a few coffees and pastries. Yikes! Definitely a spot for a treat, not an everyday habit."

Chris W.

"My friend brought me here, and it was great! I am still thinking about the blueberry-lemon iced tea latte! If you like blueberry and lemon, I highly recommend getting that drink. I didn't even get a chance to take a picture of the drink before I devoured it. I did however get a picture of the cherry almond tart (when it was halfway eaten..sorry guys). It was delicious! I love cherry and almond—I have always wanted a dessert mixing the two because they have very compatible flavor profiles. This tasted great!"

The 19 Best Restaurants In Columbus, Ohio - Columbus

Pistacia Vera has been open for almost 20 years and dabbles in brunch, but what you should really come here for are the laminated French pastries and desserts. Think things like perfectly flaky croissants, shiny eclairs, cushiony macarons in every color, and a show-stopping, domed chocolate mousse bombe. They don’t have indoor seating, so you’ll have to grab your goods and head out to the handful of tables on the sidewalk.

3rd St., Columbus, Ohio 43215 A German Village pastry kitchen that also has a presence in the North Market, Pistacia Vera specializes in handmade, lighter fare. Perhaps best known for its dozen varieties of delicate Parisian macarons, Pistacia Vera also bakes a smattering of cookies, croissants, and teacakes. Pistacia Vera offers classic desserts like éclairs and tarts, while also experimenting with more adventurous confections like a Raspberry Passion Fruit Truffle Torte, which is a decadent flourless chocolate cake with passion fruit curd and a chocolate-passion fruit mousse.

These are some of the best pastry-makers in Columbus

Founded nearly two decades ago by siblings Spencer Budros and Anne Fletcher (whose father, Jim Budros, helped launch City Barbecue), stellar Pistacia Vera has always been ahead of the curve and yet a bastion of French classicism. Its duly famous, multi-flavored macarons — delicate but intense meringue sandwich cookies that are as impressive as their esteemed Parisian forebears — are a must, especially for newcomers. But all of Pistacia’s wares, which gleam like fine jewelry in the sophisticated German Village shop’s pastry case, taste as good as they look.

Quaint spot offering flavorful beverages and delicious baked goods, but be ready for outdoor seating only, rain or shine. Solid beverages (their pistachio latte was really tasty) and high quality baked goods🥐 They have various dairy and gluten free options which I appreciated. My girlfriend and I got the quiche which was great but overpriced🥮 I thought it was weird that they didn't have any indoor seating for when it rains or it's overly humid outside.
