"How am I going to live without their tuna sushi style deviled eggs?? You must eat here if you are in Custer!! The food is amazing, the coffee is great, and the service is spot on. The people are so friendly and the restaurant has the cutest personality. The owners are great people and you can feel the kindness baked into every detail. The executive chef knows what he’s doing because I will crave this restaurant and we will definitely come out of our way to eat here again. The restaurant is smaller so there might be a wait, but it is worth the wait!! It being packed also shows how good their food is! Try the deviled eggs!!"

"I wish I would’ve taken a picture of the Sashimi Deviled Eggs. They’re delicious, truly the best I’ve ever had. I could’ve eaten three orders of them and been completely happy. The potatoes in Custer’s Last Meal are well seasoned as was the hash brown, yummy! The Rice Pudding was sweet and salty, great pairing to my coffee."

Not just small town good it’s elevated, delicious, fun, truly amazing food the chef is definitely professionally trained! The people are also just as amazing & give you the warmest welcome & all smiles. The owner cami is the sweetest thing ever, her smile is the best start to your day! A MUST STOP in Custer or really for anyone ever I would come back to Custer just for their food again! Sashimi deviled eggs will actually blow your mind they are to die for."

Originally based on an earlier breakfast concept of Skogen Kitchen (which is now only open for dinner. Reservations are highly recommended! Read “48 hours in the Black Hills for the foodie” for our favorite things about Skogen Kitchen), HJEM AM is what breakfast dreams are made of. Pronounced “hem” (the “J” is silent), it means “home” and it certainly feels that way when you’re greeted by owners Cami and Erik.

Our server was very sweet and I loved the blankets at each place setting at the outdoor tables. I also appreciate the fact that there are many items on the menu that they offer gluten free substitutions for.
