This place should definitely be on your travel bucket list 🏜️👇 Badwater Basin, Death Valley — the lowest point in North America and one of the most surreal landscapes we’ve ever seen. Cracked salt flats, wide open skies, and the kind of silence that makes you stop and just take it all in. It’s like standing on another planet and it’s only a road trip away. 📍 Death Valley National Park, CA 💡 Tip: G...

Reviews Summary

Badwater Saloon offers a surprisingly good dining experience in the remote setting of Death Valley. Diners frequently praise the generous portions, delicious burgers, and unique beer selection. While some find the menu limited and service occasionally curt, the welcoming rustic atmosphere and reasonable prices make it a highly recommended oasis for weary travelers.

"Delicious food - stumbled across this place by chance. Brilliant interiors - love the cowboy theme here.
The bison burger and wings were incredible!!! Nice easy food, great service and friendly, quick staff!"

Vee

"I came here with a friend in order to take a break from the heat and grab some food during our time in Death Valley. Let me tell you the food here is really good. I got the salmon and my friend got the arugula salad. Both plates were fresh and very tasty. My salmon was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The decor and ambiance was lovely, and our waitress Debi really made our already great experience even better. She was kind, funny, and made sure we were well taken care of. I will surely come back again when I visit the park again in the future."

Cin Weng

"Nice people and solid food. Chill saloon vibe. It connects to Toll Road restaurant. We went at lunchtime on a Wednesday so not very busy, but I imagine it's fun at night."

Five Restaurants To Try in Death Valley

Fifty Grande

How to Spend a Weekend in Death Valley

(However, do consider a meal at Stovepipe’s Toll Road Restaurant and Badwater Saloon, both of which serve unpretentious food with a Southwestern flair.) Instead, consider the previously mentioned Amargosa Opera House, which is attached to a stuck-in-time, allegedly haunted hotel that’s still operational and best classified as artfully shabby. Or peruse Vrbo or Airbnb for lodgings — many chic, some unconventional — in areas just outside the park. Finding hole-in-the-wall bars peppered with colorful locals is the best perk of staying beyond the park’s boundaries.

Barrier-Free TravelDeath Valley for Wheelers and Slow Walkers

We were the only people in the Stovepipe Wells Campground, and although the bartender at the Badwater Saloon called us “those crazy city girls”, I like to think we were trendsetters. Today folks flock to Death Valley in the summer, just to experience those same extreme temperatures. We had a great time that May — we even got invited to an employee party — and we most certainly made a lot of memories.

Death Valley, CA - Restaurants & Food

Badwater Saloon – like the Tollroad Restaurant below the service here is terrible. During our latest visit, we walked in and asked one of the waiters if we could order and she said sit down and someone will be with you. This was after we waited well over the 15 minutes estimate at the connecting Tollroad Restaurant for a table.

Where to Eat in Death Valley

Badwater Saloon: This is the more casual of the two restaurants in Stove Pipe Wells Village. It’s open for lunches and light suppers and the food is surprisingly good. However, it’s the mirrored bar and lively crowd (as well as the off-menu pizza) that make this the most popular place to eat inside the park.
