There's a whole selection, but the Prime CEO steals the show: Maytag blue cheese and Gruyère with tomato-onion confit, arugula, and bacon. Other upscale renditions of comforting classics like nachos (a delicate puff of whipped crab per chip served with jicama slaw), fried green tomatoes (panko-and-cornmeal–crusted with crisped bits of Serrano ham), and "naughty" alcoholic shakes are worth every indulgent calorie.

Then cross the street and walk a couple of blocks for a drink at The Office, which serves craft beers to a young crowd (201 E. Atlantic Ave.). That night, you’ll either sleep at the Seagate Hotel, whose big, bright rooms earned it a spot on Condé Nast Traveler’s Hot List in 2010 (561-665-4800; doubles from $305), or The Colony, a Historic Hotel of America built in 1926; its old hand-cranked elevator leads to 70 cozy rooms (561-276-4123; doubles from $209).

The Office is one of the longest-standing restaurants in Delray Beach - featuring one of the best burgers in Delray we've tried. The Office is always a popular spot for brunch-goers looking to enjoy a little shade from the Florida heat, but remain planted in one of the best indoor/outdoor bars in the city. Their open-air concept lends to the fun and social-forward aspects of the bar, allowing for as many random encounters with friendly strangers as places to pop up and enjoy a bloody mary with your best friend.

The best thing about this place is that if you're playing hooky and someone calls to ask where you are, you can answer honestly, "I'm at the Office." The theme is a retro, all-American office of yesteryear, but the kitsch actually feels fresh. The restaurant, with its indoor-outdoor wrap-around bar, pony-hide chairs, and top-volume conversation, always feels like happy hour. Everything on the glammed-Americana menu of burgers and meatloaf and ribs and fried chicken is good and quirky.

I recently dined at The Office Delray, and let me tell you, it’s a delightful experience!. Generally, the office is the place you want to run from at the end of the day -- not this one. You'll probably want to make your way expediently toward it for after work beers. The spot is well-known for its craft beer selection and cocktails.

On another weekend day, we enjoyed a casual outdoor brunch at The Office, located on Atlantic Avenue. The Office is a hot spot at night and serves breakfast as well. We didn’t have a reservation, but we were able to get a table immediately.

For smaller crowds and less-packed restaurants, visitors should go during the week. Shop and restaurant hours all vary, but can be found through the avenue’s directory.
