Reviews Summary

Guard and Grace is celebrated for its exceptional steaks and decadent sides, with many highlighting the incredible service that makes special occasions memorable. While the food garners widespread praise, some reviewers note that truffle flavors in certain dishes are subtle. A minor point of contention for some is the 'culinary contribution' fee added to checks, which they prefer to see integrated into menu pricing.

"The food was amazing, the atmosphere was great, but the service was top notch and probably my favorite thing besides the food. I went for my birthday and it was an unforgettable experience. My server Lana was the absolute best!!! Both herself and the kitchen staff took such great care of me and made me feel very celebrated and special. I’m so glad I chose Guard and Grace to celebrate and I’ll never forget my experience there. Lana, thank you so much for such a fabulous evening. ❤️ You made my day."

Kayla Renae Morales

"This restaurant was spectacular….we sat on the patio which was fun and our server was SO friendly. She was awesome. Next the potato rolls were mouthwatering pillows (we ordered another round). Then the steak….OH THE STEAK…it was tender, flavorful, I wanted to eat it again and again! We had the grass fed steak and yes, ORDER IT. We also got the gnocchi (pillows from heaven), the Brussels (crispy goodness), the carrots (so so delicious) and the mushrooms (the tastiest I’ve had). Lastly we ordered the mouthwatering cookies and the sticky toffee cake with coffee….every bite was magical. I will be back again"

"This place is amazing. Best service and staff I've ever experienced. Derrick, our server, was attentive and patient with all of our questions. Carlos, the server assistant, was wonderful and friendly. The lady manager(with the henna) stopped by too and was very sweet. We ordered a little bit of everything to try more menu items. Oysters were very fresh and tasty. Brussels sprouts, burrata, spin dip, mac n cheese, toffee cake, cocktails, and the mini banana oldies at the end were all excellent. Everything was full of flavor and delicious. Can't wait to go back and try more. Thank you so much for a lovely lunch"

18 Best Restaurants in Denver, Colorado in 2025

This elegant downtown steakhouse, courtesy of renowned restaurateur and chef-about-town Troy Guard, eschews the stilted dark-leather ambience of its same-old counterparts in favor of an inviting light-and-glass vibe. Why we love it: With subtle modern twists on classic steakhouse fare (think: Wagyu tartare with black garlic and Vietnamese vinaigrette and oak-grilled octopus with white bean celery salad) and detail-oriented non-beef entrees (see: kurobuta bone-in pork chop with barley risotto and pickled stone fruit), the menu is refreshing—but the steaks really are the star of the show. Splurge on the filet flight for true decadence of the prime, Wagyu and grass-fed variety.

Best Seafood Restaurants in Denver: Top Seafood Spots in Denver

Troy Guard’s 2014 venture has stayed an impressive—and often special-occasion—destination since its inception, and though it’s a self-described steakhouse, its selections from the sea are worthy challengers. Raw bar options include oysters, half lobster, sushi, and sashimi, and mains will often look something like oven-roasted salmon or oak-grilled ahi tuna. If you’re feeling a little surf and turf action, add some crab Oscar or a cold water lobster tail to your steak.

Must-Try Restaurants | Visit Denver

Chef and restaurateur Troy Guard has been blazing culinary trails in Denver for more than a decade, and while his first trail of restaurants spotlighted modern Asian cuisine, Guard and Grace bucks bok choy for beef — scarlet slabs of well-marbled flesh served in testosterone-restrained surrounds offset by a handsome bar, spacious chef’s counter and elevated, crescent-shaped booths stretched throughout the dining room, its windows overlooking the downtown Denver skyline. The menu is a grand ecosystem of land and sea: beef tartare, glistening oysters, crab legs and lobsters; and grill-etched steaks, including Wagyu and grass-fed, dribbling with juice. A towering, glass-enclosed wine cellar displays upwards of 4,000 bottles, many of which are also available by the glass.

The Best Restaurants and Bars in Downtown Denver

Troy Guard’s modern steak house has been serving classic carnivore fare for nearly a decade in Denver’s central business district. Once you slide into one of the oversized circular booths lining the edges of the restaurant, the only thing you have to worry about is which meats you want delivered to your table: from an extensive raw bar to Colorado-sourced lamb, steak isn’t the only protein in high supply.Try this: The oak-grilled octopus is a staple on the menu for a reason: the tender tentacles are accompanied by Spanish chorizo and a white bean and celery salad dressed with tangy sherry vinaigrette. And the steak flight (4 ounces each of USDA Prime, wagyu, and grass-fed filet mignon) is an absolute must.
