With a mission to be distinguished but still contemporary, Capitol Park’s Prime + Proper prides itself on its hospitality, and of course, its steaks. Beside traditional steakhouse entrees, the menu offers other elevated fare such as duck, tartare and caviars.

The butcher shop serves as a centerpiece at Prime + Proper, a modern steakhouse at the base of the Capitol Park Loft building in Detroit. The dry-aging vault is visible through a full-length, floor-to-ceiling custom window, so guests may see all the action.

The upscale steakhouse in Capitol Park aims to bring “luxury, history and exquisite detail” to its 1912 space and menu. That includes "a smart and sophisticated casual dress code," even on its patio, which has room for 30 guests.

Come on I had to include at least one restaurant on this list. With a name like Prime + Proper it had better be good and they sure don’t disappoint. The atmosphere and decor alone will leave you wanting more.

Albena, Prime + Proper, Chartreuse, Leila, Apparatus Room and Marrow are always included on best restaurant lists for good reasons, and they are all unique fine dining experiences in their own right.
