The week we arrive in Durango happened to be our wedding anniversary so our first meal out was at Eolus on Main Street. This nice sit-down restaurant was amazing and we ate so much we could barely move when we left. If you’re looking for something more casual we’d recommend Himalayan Kitchen which offers traditional Tibetan dishes and Pizza!.

Do damage to their excellent smoked chicken wings and Cajun mac & cheese, or hit Eolus promptly at 5:00PM for happy hour, and feast on one of the best $10 burgers around. Top off any meal, or any ride, with ice cream at Cream Bean Berry. For a 5-pound-brick-style burrito, hit up the cycling supporters at Zia Taquaria.

Eolus (recommend the upstairs patio): Eolus is a big more formal than the other restaurants on the list, but the upstairs patio is gorgeous with the best views. We will take the girls for an early dinner on the patio before the mood starts to get a bit more adult-y later in the evening.

We got to Eolus Bar & Dining about an hour before our reservation and called to see if we could be seated early. Luckily, we were seated within 15 minutes, which was great. The menu is definitely on the "fancy" side, and given the prices, you'd expect it to be.

They have great rooftop seating available, and pride themselves on using high quality ingredients from local sources. Another fine dining favorite with a western flair is El Moro, dubbed modern rustic cuisine.

Eolus, named after the majestic Mt. Eolus, this fine dining spot is warm and inviting, using locally sourced ingredients and specializing in signature cocktails. A romantic venue that will warm your hearts.

He explained that Twin Buttes does about 70-80% of its business as wholesale with local restaurants like Zia, the Ore House, El Moro, Bread, Eolus, Durango Natural Foods and the James Ranch Market.

I recommend Fired Up's rooftop, one of my favorite dining spots in Durango, or El Moro or Eolus (which also has a fabulous rooftop) for something a little fancier.

We ultimately decided on Eolus Bar & Dining after encountering a local couple on the street who claimed it was the best restaurant in town.
