What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mahogany Grille offers a highly-rated fine dining experience with an enchanting Victorian ambiance and attentive service. Diners rave about perfectly cooked steaks, particularly the peppered filet and elk tenderloin, as well as the unique appetizer, 'Adult Candy.' While most experiences are exceptional, a few reviewers noted some dishes like a loaded potato being served cold, and one reviewer felt stereotyped and unwelcome.
"This was my first experience going to a restaurant alone and it was amazing. My food and drinks were absolutely perfect - I highly recommend the salmon and a chai old fashioned. But my favorite part was my server, Kelly. She was just the right amount of attentive and was genuinely kind to me. I feel like sometimes you go to a restaurant and you can tell the servers are only being nice because they have to... this was not the case with my server at all. She made me feel comfortable even though I was nervous to be eating alone, and she took the time to sit with me and talk. She even wrote me a list of bars to visit because I mentioned I was going bar hopping the next night. She congratulated me on my new job and went above and beyond to make sure I felt special. I owe her a thousand thank yous. Next time I'm in Durango, I will be sure to be back. If you see this Kelly, you're the best and thank you again!"

"We recently celebrated a birthday and anniversary at Mahogany Grille. Chef Sam, the entire kitchen and staff made the celebration outstanding and one for the books!
First of all… the food! There were 7 of us, so we had many of the items on the menu and all were delicious! We started with the Green eggs and ham and the steak tartare- my new favorite twist on the deviled egg and they have mastered the tartare. My entree was the Herbert 2.0 - it was cooked to perfection and plated beautifully. I think I even dreamed about it later that night 😉 😍 highest compliments to the chef!!!
The service was just as top shelf. Our server Dan was kind, witty and knows his wine!
Thank you Mahogany Grille for an amazing celebration. We will be back next time we are in town."

"A fine dining experience right on Main Street in Durango. We arrived at 5 pm and were seated promptly without a reservation. Our server was very attentive throughout the meal, and the manager also checked on us as well as the other patrons.
I had the elk tenderloin with cherry demi sauce, and it was phenomenal. It was served with a small sweet potato and mixed vegetables. One friend had a surf and turf, and another had a steak. Everyone enjoyed their main course. However, one friend was not satisfied with her loaded potato. She said it was cold, and when she added additional butter, it didn't melt because of it being cold.
For dessert, we had a cheesecake that was creamy and delicious and the toffee cake. It had a beautiful presentation with warm toffee, vanilla ice cream, and whip cream. The cake was not my favorite, but overall, we enjoyed our dining experience."
