But what you really come here for are some of our favorite sandwiches in Durham. Somehow they’re able to make options like egg salad or turkey, bacon, and avocado far better than what you’ll get anywhere else - especially since they all come with a side of some of the best coleslaw we’ve ever had.

The popular, long-standing café/shop hybrid has everything on your list and then some: local gifts, chocolate, wine, party and paper supplies, toys, puzzles, games, cookbooks, home décor, bags, totes, cards and more. Make sure to grab a coffee or chai and try the classic P&O sandwich with pimento cheese to fuel you up as you explore more of Durham.

The Durham Bulls Athletic Park is home to the beloved Durham Bulls. Cheer them on while you sip on Bull Durham Beer (made right there in the stadium) and be sure to give Minor League Baseball’s favorite mascot, Wool E. Bull a high five!. You also can visit the old Bulls Stadium down the street at the Durham Athletic Park (location of the ever famous Bull Durham movie) off Morris Street.

Breakfast is basic but tasty — two eggs with bacon and a house-made cheddar cheese biscuit will run you $6.99. The java is freshly brewed from noted local roaster Counter Culture Coffee.

What & Where: Named after a beloved family pug, Parker and Otis is a uniquely self-proclaimed “restaurant and gift shop” near Duke’s campus. They have an extensive breakfast and lunch menu including Durham’s own Counter Culture Coffee, and house everything from cookbooks and Le Creuset cookware to champagne and cards for every occasion.

I cannot say enough good things about Parker and Otis, which is located downtown. I was first introduced to it last summer, before I started the MMS program, by a very dear teacher from high school. We met for lunch and I was blown away by the diverse types of sandwiches and salads that Parker and Otis served its customers.

Quaint cafe offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, along with great outdoor seating. Doubling as both a sandwich shop and general store, your dog is more than welcome to be by your side while you chow down. All their sandwiches are made with fresh ingredients.

From the low-key, industrial architecture to their colorful eclectic gift-shop, this place is something different. With a buzzing ambiance and a shaded outdoor seating area, Parker & Otis is perfect for a casual date or an afternoon pick-me-up.

Since we’re already at Brightleaf Square, why not stop for lunch in the area at Parker and Otis?. They use local flavors and fresh-baked bread to create sumptuously Southern sandwiches. I selected a turkey and pepper jelly sandwich.

Having breakfast together at Parker and Otis is very romantic. You can have delicious food here. For example, there are great sandwiches.
