What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners praise the Bavarian Inn Restaurant for its charming, nostalgic atmosphere and excellent homemade desserts, particularly the German Chocolate Cake and Apple Strudel. While the traditional Czech-German cuisine, featuring dishes like the Bavarian Plate and Schnitzel, is generally well-received for its authentic flavors and tender meats, some reviews mention that the food experience can be more about the ambiance than culinary innovation, with occasional critiques on service consistency and pricing for certain items.
"A true gem of Eureka Springs! We had an amazing, homemade meal with fantastic flavors. Everyone in our group had clean empty plates, the food was so delicious. The meats were so fresh and tender, cooked beautifully. The homemade gnocchi on the Chicken Anna Marie was exquisite. Their Czech mushrooms were great and are also forged from their family in Czech Republic. We had to get their German Chocolate Cake and Lemon Cake to go which were sooo perfect! We have always wanted to stop in here on other trips, and during our first night on a little family trip we decided it was the night and we cannot believe we waited so long but we will be back! The staff were very friendly and fast, we even got to speak with the woman behind it all! They also have a great selection of German beers and lots of wine! The atmosphere and decorations reminded my fiancé’s mother of her grandmother’s house which really made it even more special. A great spot to visit in Eureka Springs!"

"The food was great… we had the Wiener Schnitzel I had the soup and I’m not a fan of Sauerkraut but it was really good. My friend had the salad and she said they should bottle the vinaigrette and sale it! Now the desserts however were AMAZING! Whoever makes them needs a raise! I had the praline cheesecake and my friend had the lemon cream cake.. we ate every bit and I was about the start licking the plate to get all of the sauce 😂."

"The Bavarian Inn gets one star just for ambience, and a second star for having an excellent Wienerschnitzel, but that’s where the stars will end in my review.
To start with when I sat in my booth, which was against the outer wall of a building, my elbow got covered in a cobweb that was in the corner of the booth, which was gross and should’ve been a sign to leave.
My waitress was only dutifully attentive with the exception of putting a dirty knife on the table when I could tell that she saw it was dirty as she was putting it down, and she still left it on the table for me to use and was gone in a flash.
Other than that she was not talkative or informative at all, and at these prices, I would expect a little hospitality and personality from a server, like the waiter behind me was doting on a nice couple, explaining the entire menu in great detail, and how it contrasted with dishes they may have had before, talking to them about where they were from, and what they’ve been doing in town, being very hospitable and personable as you would expect at a nice restaurant.
Another issue is the restaurant policy on not substituting anything. They’re more than happy to sell you an additional seven dollar side of what you do want but absolutely will not substitute it for something you don’t.
When the food came the peas and carrots on the plate looked very fresh and well cooked, and I’m sure someone who likes peas and carrots would like them very much. But these particular peas and carrots went right into the trash, and I left just a little less satisfied which is unfortunate.
I’ll never understand why a restaurant would rather throw unwanted food in the trash than just give a customer what they want.
When the bill came, I was surprised to find
that I was charged three dollars for a glass of water.
I have never had a restaurant charge for water, let alone three dollars.
It does not say any where on the menu that they charge for a glass of water.
Was charged over $43.00 before tip for a single meal, one beer, appetizer, and glass of water.
I am a fan of German food and had hoped to come back several times to try more things on the menu, but after being charged three dollars for a glass of water, not getting everything I would like to have from a not very personable waitress, I will take my business elsewhere while in town."
