Reviews Summary

YooYee 喜又 is a highly-regarded Sichuan restaurant praised for its authentic and flavorful dishes, with standouts like the eggplant and hand-pulled noodles. Diners consistently mention the generous portions and attentive service, though the restaurant's popularity often leads to waits. While most dishes are excellent, some reviews noted minor issues with specific items like pot stickers or portion size of beef brisket.

"Went to the restaurant for a last minute date night and so glad we did! The restaurant was packed and we had to put our name down for the waiting list but the wait wasn’t bad at all. Service was very attentive and was very quick. Our drinks came quickly and the food followed short after. The food was very flavorful and the spice level was good as well. Definitely will be back soon!!"

"Incredible food!! We wanted to eat there in person the first time to get a feel for their vegan options and what would be able to be modified. Our server was so helpful in guiding us and we were so happy with the selections. We got a spicy crispy tofu, scallion pancake, eggplant, green beans, hand pull noodle soup, cabbage, and cucumber salad. The yuzu soda was really good too! Recently we got take out and ordered all the same, and added the cold sesame noodles which ended up being the favorite!!"

"I’ve been to this restaurant twice now, both times for dinner. They’re always packed, both during the week and weekend, so I recommend coming early, especially if you’re in a large group. Get on the waitlist and explore Argyle before heading in for your meal.

The ambiance is cozy and modern, with some subtle Chinese touches that add a unique twist. I was surprised by how well they renovated and decorated the place, considering the condition of the old shop that housed it before.

They offer a wide variety of dishes, but I’m a fan of their spicy dishes, especially those with the numbing spiciness of Sichuan pepper and chili peppers. Their sweet-skinned duck is one of their most popular dishes, and it’s nicely seasoned and cooked. However, it’s not too greasy, so it’s on the drier side. If you prefer your duck on the fatter side, you might want to consider that.

Other dishes are great, but none are as outstanding as their eggplant with garlic sauce. It’s a simple dish, but they nailed everything perfectly. The eggplant is so soft it melts in your mouth, and it’s bursting with flavor. This dish alone could easily make you order a second hot bowl of rice!

The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. The savory dishes come with a small bowl of rice, which is free. However, they could improve the rice by making it a bit fluffier."

The 25 Best New Restaurants In Chicago - Chicago

YooYee’s Sichuan-style dishes are an exciting, fiery addition to Uptown. Anything with tingly peppercorns is a hit, whether it’s a refreshing smashed cucumber salad, sweet and nutty dandan noodles, or a bubbling green broth with fish filet that flakes apart at the sight of a chopstick. Some sweating may occur, but the bright space has enough calming piano renditions of Miyazaki movie scores to make it feel more like a relaxing sauna experience.
