Reviews Summary

The Veranda offers a historic and elegant dining experience with upscale Southern cuisine and impeccable service, creating a memorable atmosphere for special occasions. While many praise the ambiance, attentive staff, and signature dishes like lamb chops, some find the food overpriced for the quality and seasoning, with a few guests noting inconsistencies.

"My girlfriend took me to The Veranda for my birthday dinner. Winston was our server. He was very knowledgeable and helpful, his service was speedy. I had the Grilled Black Angus Rib Eye & my girlfriend had the New Zeland Lamb Chops. For dessert, we shared the Peanut Butter Fudge Pie.
Everything was delicious!"

"Very beautiful and elegant atmosphere. When you walk in you instantly see all these cool historical pictures and paintings. This place definitely has a dress code! You will feel out of place if you don’t dress up. Our waiter was amazing for how busy it was. We had to wait awhile to order but it was busy."

Rhia Lange

"We went to The Veranda to celebrate our 20th Anniversary and had a wonderful evening. The food and wine were delicious and our server was attentive but not over the top. We love the atmosphere of the old house and will definitely be back. Would love to have happy hour in the dark and moody bar! Only suggestion would be to maybe offer free dessert for special occasions as so many finer restaurants do. They had a lovely “Happy Anniversary” plate with the chocolate torte on it, but we were charged for it. We ordered a bottle of wine, appetizers and dinner so we spent a lot of time and money there. It’s fine, just would have been a nice touch to the evening."

The Best Desserts in Southwest Florida

In Naples, for a selection of creamy retro pies, The Continental on Third Street South has become a category leader with choices like grasshopper, butterscotch-toffee crunch and raspberry-passionfruit. (Many swear by HobNob’s banoffee pudding with tuile wafer as well; it’s the restaurant’s liberal interpretation of a traditional English banana-toffee slice.) If you’re missing grandma’s cherry, rhubarb and blackberry pies (and don’t mind eating them in weathered cottage-like digs), Dolly’s Produce Patch in Bonita Springs is a good fit.

Occupying two old homes dating back to 1902 (they were joined by Peter Pulitzer for his long-time fishing buddy, Fingers O'Bannon, in the early 1970s), for years the Veranda has provided a charming atmosphere as well as consistently good cuisine. The Veranda's lounge is dimly lit, a bit romantic and a favorite with the downtown for happy hour. The manager has a fantastic wine palate, loves to locate older vintages and those bottles of wine that are produced in small lots.
