Reviews Summary

Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar is highly praised for its exceptionally fresh, high-quality sushi and unique fish selections, particularly its hand rolls and daily specials. The personalized service from attentive chefs adds to the intimate dining experience. While the food is consistently lauded as outstanding and worth the price, the limited seating often results in significant waits, and some patrons have noted issues with table turnover or service when busy.

"Top 3 best sushi I've ever had. For two, expect to pay $50-60 each and walk away absolutely stuffed. My wife's favorite was the salmon sashimi with truffle ponzu and the spicy tuna with shrimp katsu hand roll. My favorite was the akami zuke and the unister. The unister was the most expensive thing we ordered coming in at $18 but it was worth it... Uni, ikura, oyster with 24k gold flakes. An $18 bite but man was that good. The fishy oyster, then the savory uni, and finally the umami from the bursting ikura. Nothing fishy by the end of the bite. The hand rolls are delicious with crispy seaweed - something I've never experienced, usually the seaweed is already absorbing the moisture from the rice and sashimi and you can't truly enjoy the crisp nori flavor. The salmon belly is also noteworthy and the crab hand roll was delicious with actual crab, not just imitation. Lastly, get there early. We arrived 40 minutes before opening and we're numbers 5 and 6 in line. By the time opening came, there were 30 people in line with only 25 seats at the bar available. Umai!"

"How can you not rate this at 5 star. The experience overall was superb. Not a major wait time. Personalized sushi chef serving up succulent treats. The freshness, the exotic selection, the robust sake menu. I could visit such a place everyday. The red snapper sashimi and Spanish mackerel sushi were standouts. Of course the rolls are out of this world. Will 10/10 come back when I’m back in town. Alas I’m just a tourist who must return to my small hometown where such quality doesn’t exist. Oh well."

"I honestly could not even begin to try and remember what we ate. Most of the stuff I can’t even pronounce correctly! However, this place is the best hand roll restaurant in all of DFW, hands-down! It was so good. I forgot to take photos as we got our food. Only got the first few. The restaurant delivers fresh food for every single bite. So as soon as they are done with anything they deliver straight to you. The restaurant is very small, so please plan accordingly. Their menu does change according to seasonal fish availability. But you can’t go wrong with anything! In addition to the food being delicious, the ambience and service is top-notch. I have never had an unpleasant experience. This place is very expensive, however, so keep that in mind and don’t go starving. We easily spend close to $200 between two people every time we go and this is without drinks. But the food is totally worth it!"

Fort Worth Is More Than Just Cowboys — With Great Modern Art, Cool Hotels, and a Vegan Dining Scene

A lot of the Fort Worth locals were torn about sharing this social media because we didn’t want it to be hard to get a seat, but the word got out,” says restaurateur Sarah Castillo. The 25-seat sushi bar has indeed gone from hidden gem to hotspot thanks to chef Jun Mo Yeon’s meticulously sourced seafood and ever-changing menu. They don’t take reservations, but Castillo recommends adding your name to the list and waiting for your turn at one of the neighboring bars.

No other restaurant in Fort Worth is quite like Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar, which resides in a strip mall on the edge of the Cultural District, along the spine of the West Seventh area. But forget the part where we said, “West Seventh area.” Hatsuyuki is the furthest thing from the fratty hangouts that have given the area a bad name. Instead, this independent restaurant, opened three years ago by Seoul-born sushi chef Jun Mo Yeon, offers a wholly unique dining experience.
