My favorite, the Josephine, is a sliced buttermilk biscuit with fig preserves on one side and tomato, melted brie cheese, ham, and a fried egg on top!. That also comes with a side of fruit :). They also have more traditional breakfast meals, like eggs with bacon, a biscuit/toast, and potatoes, and omelettes, amazing pancakes, eggs Benedict, fruit with yogurt and granola, and caramelized banana French toast.

Inspired dishes created from locally sourced ingredients grown right here in our community are served up daily at Sunset Grill. Their San Diego Burger comes with smoked bacon and fresh guacamole to add some extra notes to the flavor. We’re also big fans of their Buckhorn Burger, with Hatch green chilis, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle mayo bringing just the right amount of heat to every bite you take.

After checking out, we stopped at the Sunset Grill for brunch (again at the suggestion of Kristin). This restaurant was awesome; from the brightly colored decor reminiscent of the California coast to the freshly prepared food. When I explained to our waiter about my food issues, he promptly had one of the owners come over to our table and answer my questions.

These two restaurants are next door to each other and a 2-minute drive or 8-minute walk away from us and they are extremely popular with locals and return visitors. They are owned by the same people and are both great. Woerner’s serves light breakfasts, salads, pizzas, and sandwiches while Sunset Grill does more traditional breakfasts and grill food.

For a sit down breakfast we head to SUNSET GRILL at 902 South Adams for pancakes and coffee and, my personal favorite, “South American French Toast. ” Sunset Grill is a classic American bistro that also serves good lunches Monday through Saturday and a great Sunday brunch. They have a knack for mixing local ingredients with creative recipes.
