Reviews Summary

The Old Mill Restaurant is celebrated for its generous portions of soul-satisfying Southern comfort food and its charming, historic ambiance. Diners rave about the value for money and the overall home-cooked feel. While many praise the attentive service and delicious food, some reviews mention long wait times during peak hours and occasional inconsistencies with certain dishes.

"This is one place I have been to that I had to write a review for. This place has that family restaurant feel along with a great atmosphere. We loved everything about it. The food made you feel like you were at home. This is the best restaurant I have been to in a long time including some high dollar places. You get your money's worth and then some. They have a lot of gluten free options. I like to post that because I know there are a lot of people like my wife who cannot have it. The portions were huge. You got a full meal from start to finish. If you are in town and like a home cooked meal do not miss this place. We will eat here every time we are in town."

Shane Dumas

"I visited The Old Mill Restaurant on a Saturday afternoon, and overall it was a good experience. The place was packed with people, yet there’s no need to make reservations in advance. You simply check in at the entrance, give your last name, and wait to be called. Despite the crowd, the wait time was surprisingly short, about 10 minutes.

There’s plenty of free parking available, but because of the high number of visitors, finding an open spot took a bit of patience.

Once seated, service was quick, almost too quick at first. Our waiter seemed rushed while taking the order, and as a first-time guest, I would have appreciated a little more time to look over the menu. That said, once the food arrived, his attitude shifted. He checked on us several times and was much more attentive and pleasant.

The food itself was good. My steak was cooked exactly to my request, which I truly appreciated. The only disappointment for me was the dessert. The pecan pie was overly sweet for my taste.

The Old Mill is certainly an iconic spot worth visiting at least once, but personally, I don’t see myself returning. Still, it’s a unique experience for those who want to try it."

Dani P

"Had such a great dinner that we returned for breakfast! Fast friendly service. Great atmosphere. Beautiful scenery. Delicious food. SO MUCH FOOD! exceptional value for the money.
For dinner I ordered the fried chicken and was served 3 MASSIVE chicken breasts which also included a salad, cup of corn chowder, mashed potato and dessert! All for $26."

10 Best Breakfasts in Pigeon Forge That You Must Try

This haven for soul-satisfying Southern comfort food is one of the most popular restaurants in the whole Great Smokies region, but rest assured your breakfast will be worth the potential wait. Nestled along the Little Pigeon River, the Old Mill Restaurant serves up what our local expert aptly describes as “insanely large portions,” so—as with a number of the eateries on this list—it’s a great place to come with a full-size appetite. We recommend the Cinnamon Raisin Pecan French Toast Breakfast here, which comes anchored by delightful cinnamon raisin pecan bread baked at the Old Mill Restaurant’s “sister” establishment of the Old Mill Pottery House Café & Grill.

The Perfect Weekend in the Great Smoky Mountains

Built in 1830, the Old Mill (originally the Pigeon Forge Mill) was initially used to grind grain for local farmers. After the establishment of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in 1934, Pigeon Forge gradually evolved into a tourist destination, and the mill became what it is today… a restaurant and souvenir shop. And even though its primary use isn’t to grind grain anymore, the mill continues its tradition as a working grist mill making flour, cornmeal, and grits… All of which can be purchased in The Old Mill General Store.
