The Land of Little Horses is a cute interactive animal park. Open April through October, the Land of Little Horses has a large herd of miniature horses, as well as other farmyard animals. Visitors can meet the animals, see daily performances, and even play in the replica western town.

As you walk along Chambersburg Street admiring the Colonial Revival architecture, you’ll eventually eye the neon Guinness sign in the window of the Garryowen Irish Pub. This authentic eatery is one of Gettysburg’s most popular spots — and one of my favorites.

First of all, let me just say that this place is the real deal. The authentic Irish pub atmosphere was so inviting and cozy that I felt like I was in a small village in Ireland. The staff was attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home.

Gettysburg has no shortage of great spots to grab a drink, and I’m particularly fond of the Garry Owen Irish Pub. Rich and I took a seat and ordered a couple of beers—mine a Guinness (non-alcoholic as I’m backing off the alcohol these days).

Food enthusiasts seeking an authentic experience can venture to Garryowen Irish Pub, where they can try Shepherd’s pie. This pie is made with ground beef and vegetables in a rich gravy topped with lightly browned mashed potatoes.

Carol and I ventured into The Garryowen after a day of touring Gettysburg. We were warmly greeted, given great service by our server and the food was delicious. The Black and Tans also hit the spot after a long day of walking.

Several locals recommended Garryowen Irish Pub for a casual dinner. We quickly found they serve up elevated pub grub. The housemade whiskey walnut dressing on the salads was a hit with our group along with the fish and chips.

I have to eat gluten & dairy-free, and that's difficult when dining out in an Irish pub!. They accommodated me nicely, I ate smoked pork & fries. My husband's food looked AMAZING.
