What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners rave about Garryowen Irish Pub for its authentic Irish cuisine and extensive whiskey selection, with many highlighting the Shepherd's Pie and lively atmosphere. While generally praised for friendly service and a cozy ambiance, some reviews note that certain dessert items, like the bread pudding, could be improved.
"What a quaint gem. Located in historic Gettysburg PA. Irish cuisine and a lot of atmosphere. Traditional Shepherds Pie, Bangers and Mash and Beef Stew with Soda Bread. There are also soups, burgers and sandwiches. Large Whisky list and bread pudding. Local music playing Irish songs added to the charm. This place was packed with locals and tourists. I saw a bar area that extended to the back room where the music was playing. We sat in the dining room off that room which you still can hear the music. To my left was another room which was being used for a special event. I saw that they must have another upstairs room because it was showing music was held there previously on Friday night. I ordered the Shepherds Pie and my companion ordered the Beef Stew. Hot tasty and served by a very nice staff. We ordered the bread pudding. I cannot wait to go back."

"Good food, nothing particularly special, but the kids were happy, and it was good Irish fare and decent burgers. We wouldn't go out of our way to go back, or even if we were in the area, I would probably try something else next time just for the variety, but my husband said it seemed to be "the place to go" near Gettysburg, and it was convenient. Not directly related, but we did have some trouble with the pay on your phone parking meters. The waitress was very helpful to let us know they were pretty strict about it, but they were able to change our dollars for coins to feed it directly, which was helpful. Just an FYI that the phone system might not work, but they will help you out if you have cash."

"It was a very nice experience. There was an indoor or outdoor option. We chose inside. The bar was at the front and then there were regular tables further back. We sat there. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. Our food was delicious. I had the chicken dish (pictured) and my son had the Gaelic shrimp (pictured) he devoured it and some of my chicken, so it was definitely good. The Irish poutine (pictured)! was very good as well. He said is was alright, but he kept eating it lol. If we had more time here, we would definitely go back. We will come back on another trip though for sure."
