We own a cafe in Grand Rapids, MI that is focused on intentional food & service. We use organic and local as much as we can and want to build into the community or GR. We’ve been in catering and private events for the past decade but have been loving being able to service people every week with some pretty seriously delicious Sammie’s, sides, treats, and more! Come check out our little cafe in the...

Reviews Summary

Gaia House Cafe is celebrated for its vibrant vegetarian and vegan options and a consistently cozy atmosphere. Diners rave about unique dishes like corn fritters and freshly squeezed juices, with many appreciating the health-conscious approach and community feel. However, some patrons have noted inconsistencies in food preparation and service speed, with occasional complaints about blandness or a less-than-sparkling environment.

"Absolutely loved our visit! The place has a warm, thoughtful vibe and the food arrived quickly, tasting incredibly fresh. One of the highlights was the fruit smoothie—no added sugar, water, or ice, just pure fruit goodness. And the glass straw? Such a simple but amazing touch. Really appreciated their focus on quality and sustainability."

"Well, for my birthday I started looking for a plant based restaurant and discovered this vegetarian restaurant. I ordered the veggie stash with brown rice and roasted potatoes and the cornbread french toast. The veggie stash was delicious and I didn’t really like the cornbread french toast 😞. 1 out of 2 isn’t bad. Next time, I’m trying a homemade juice and green burrito. I say give it a try. It’s a little pricey but it’s healthy and worth it! 😋"

"First time here today, after talking about stopping by for so long. I regret not coming sooner! I got the grilled cheese tortilla, my fiancé got the Cuban with tempeh, and we shared a plate of chips and hummus. Everything was absolutely incredible. So thrilled that there's a spot in Creston with fantastic vegetarian and vegan options. Can't wait to come back to try more of their menu offerings!"

How to Spend a Weekend in Grand Rapids, Michigan

In the 1980s, Gaia Cafe opened in Grand Rapids—and chose to leave meat off the menu. Back then, vegetarianism was niche, yet the restaurant endured for some 30 years, eventually shuttering in 2014. Long-standing employee Andrea Bumstead later revived this institution as Gaia House Cafe, teaming up with childhood friend and acclaimed designer Sarah Sherman Samuel to build out a new Gaia in its Creston Business District location.
