Reviews Summary

Workshop Kitchen & Bar is lauded for its stunning, award-winning design and its commitment to a farm-to-table philosophy, offering creative and flavorful New American dishes. While many praise the impeccable service and standout dishes like the Iberian Pork Steak and Ricotta Gnocchi, a few reviews mention slow service or an occasional dish not meeting expectations, though the overall dining experience is highly regarded.

"It’s interesting because with expensive restaurants it’s hard to truly have a 5 star experience without wondering if it was actually worth the money. However, this did not apply to Workshop. We enjoyed the food, it was all well-executed. I wouldn’t say it was the most memorable or outstanding meal we’ve ever had, but it was certainly well done and of quality. They make everything from scratch, even the ginger beer! The service here was so great. We really enjoyed talking to our waiter and he was able to answer all our questions and address our modifications with enthusiasm"

Ayilah Chaudhary

"Workshop offers a fantastic dining experience with a relaxed, breezy outdoor setting and attentive service. Jacob, our server, was excellent—knowledgeable, friendly, and even surprised us with a birthday dessert. The food was impressive across the board, from the flavorful lamb and pepperoni pizza to the shaved Brussels salad. The duck fried rice and scallops were delicious, and the burger was perfectly cooked. However, the true star of the night was the 18oz dry-aged ribeye—absolutely incredible. The drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, were also well crafted. A great spot for a memorable meal, and I highly recommend it!"

"Have been meaning to try the Workshop Kitchen for some time now and finally did brunch there on Sunday. The atmosphere and ambiance is wonderful. I can only imagine how nice it must be to eat here in cooler months and sit outside but the inside was very cool.

The service was great and very friendly although a little slow. I think they were a little short staffed so totally understandable.

The food was incredible. We shared a bunch of small plates and then shared some entrees. The brunch cocktail selection was amazing too.

Overall very impressed with the experience and will happily come back and try dinner next."

18 Best Restaurants in Palm Springs to Check Out Fall 2023

What was once a historic movie theater in the ‘20s is now a stark, concrete space with plush booths, minimal lighting, and a spacious courtyard. Called Workshop, this restaurant is actually a James Beard Award winner for best restaurant design—and it’s also a thoughtful and exciting dining experience in the midst of an otherwise touristy stretch of Palm Springs. Serving Modern American small plates made with ingredients from local farms (most of which are within an hour of Palm Springs), dinner is on the fancy side and is undoubtedly the way to go if you’re looking for a perfect date spot.

Farm-to-table food may seem like an impossibility in the middle of the desert, but nearby Coachella Valley is actually one of the nation’s most productive regions. A dedicated garden in Rancho Mirage, along with a sizeable herb planter behind the kitchen, furnishes peak-season produce for wood-fired dishes like a flat iron au poivre, and even a simple yuzu tart is prettied up with farm-fresh raspberries and wood sorrel. A surprising new entry into the PS dining scene, Workshop Kitchen + Bar pushes the foodie envelope with their Farm to Table approach. Owners Michael Beckman and Joseph Mourani have realized a contemporary, somewhat austere Modernist industrial design in a beautiful Colonial building which offers a compelling staging point for their ‘Americana’ style of food, offering everything from wood-fired pizza, sous-vide offerings, duck rillette, pan-roasted scallops, black truffle risotto, to Large Format Plates that are great for a ‘family service’ style evening of shared food and conversation. And this is exactly what we ordered: Whole Grilled Organic Chicken Diavolo, served with two sides of Kabocha Squash and Red Sage Quinoa.
