What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Flying Harpoon 2 offers a lively, no-frills dive bar experience with a menu packed with Cajun seafood and generous portions. While many praise the strong drinks and unique dishes, some reviewers have noted inconsistent food quality and service, particularly during busy periods or with less experienced staff. It's a spot that can deliver a solid, affordable meal and a fun atmosphere, but experiences can vary.
"We tried this location again recently. We had been going to the other location in Gulf Shores every time we visited. We have yet to find a better rum runner or tuna dip. We were pleased that both were exactly the same at this location. The place is spacious with 2 bars, one upstairs and one downstairs. We sat at the bar upstairs and enjoyed our bartender. He was personable, funny, and great at making drinks. The decor is visually stimulating and eclectic. We will definitely be coming back every time we visit."

"This was the worst experience we have had in a long time! We will never go back! We had family from out of town & little kids. It was not very family oriented, service was devoted to the drinking crowd. We were there over 2.5 hrs, our food ticket wasn't put in until 30 min after we ordered. By the time we got our food it was 1.5 hrs after ordering, there was no ice in our glasses, we drank hot water & tea with it. We were compensated with a 75% discount but never even offered a refreshed drink by the time the food did come. We had a missing item & even an extra item of something we didnt order. The chips were moist.... the mens bathroom door was hanging off the hinges! When we asked what happened we were told the restaurant literally had 2 cooks in horse trailer! This restaurant has potential but will take some effort. We shouldn't have had to pay anything!"

"ok i don’t even know how to start. it was DISGUSTING! to start off, oysters were piled up in the parking lot (not very unusual just saying.) wait time was 1 hour, that’s fine but the host put us on the list and ERASED our party while we were waiting.
knowing there was open seats downstairs, he put our party upstairs at the bar. keep in mind we had a toddler, and two kids. while walking up the stairs it STUNK. like full on REEKED. seafood smell is different, but it smelled like full on MOLD!
food wait was an hour and a half. THE STEAMER WAS BROKEN. so no fried or oily foods. no chicken tenders which is what many kids get. got the food at 8:40. sweet tea wasn’t even sweet. when the food arrived, we instantly noticed the kids cheese pizza is just cheese popped on the bread. bread was stale and cheese falling all off. fried shrimp wasn’t even cooked, make us sick to our stomach. potato chips were okay i guess. waitress was nice but didn’t get refills till before we left. bill was $80. what a waste
overall i do NOT recommend."

The Gulf Coast's best beach and barefoot bar vacation
If you're searching for a bar where you can spend a whole night getting rowdy, the famed Flora-Bama Lounge is your spot. This massive roadhouse-style beach bar has been around since the 1960s, and has its roots back in the days when Escambia County, Florida was a "wet" county and Baldwin County, Alabama was dry, making it the perfect place for Pensacolans and people in Baldwin County to come together and share a drink. Today, it has five stages of live music (whether you like country or rock, or something tropical, or something to dance to, you'll find tunes to enjoy), oysters, and, of course, lots of beachside seating.

Bushwackers, Blue Angels, and a Baptist Church Bar in Orange Beach
We arrived in Orange Beach pretty late in the evening, but we lucked out with some terrific Gulf shrimp and housemade chips at The Flying Harpoon 2, which serves a full menu until 1 a.m. We thought we’d lucked out with their live music, too, until we realized that the lead singer was running late and the female drummer was filling in for him on vocals. She was fantastic … and we’ll leave it at that.
