Many of the ingredients, such as bananas, papayas, mangoes, avocados, passion fruit, oranges, kale and mint, are grown at the owners’ farm in Waialua. Cookies, treats, and breads for the piled-high sandwiches are all made from scratch. The acai bowls are seriously addictive.

I have to admit, I’m a little biased on this point (I work the counter at the bakery) but I cannot express enough how much I love this little place!. Owned and operated by the Swim Family, the Waialua Bakery makes sandwiches, buns, cookies, smoothies, teas, and acai bowls fresh to order and entirely from ingredients grown on their farm in Waialua. Customers gush daily about how Billy Swim’s sandwiches are the best they’ve ever had and locals can attest to the consistent quality.

Located a short 10-minute walk from Hale’iwa Alii beach park, Waialua Bakery and Juice Bar is a great spot for a light lunch. Stop in early for a sandwich to take to the beach (the Avocado on a jalapeno bun or a Crazy Nut made with housemade coconut peanut butter are both phenomenal) or take a mid-afternoon break for a fresh salad. It’s a charming, local sandwich shop where the bread is freshly baked and the turkey is roasted daily. We love their smoothies, fresh cookies, and bright yellow building that can’t be missed. Waialua is also a local surfer hangout!

We were shopping around when we stumbled upon this cute spot. Seeing the signs for acai bowls, we swung by. The irresistible smell of baked goods drew me in (that banana bread!) but I only had one thing on the mind: acai.

What to order: Acai bowl – acai sorbet with granola, banana, and strawberry. This bakery has a ton of great sandwiches, salads, and of course acai bowls. Everything is made in houe with the freshest local ingredients.
