Reviews Summary

The Conservatory at The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay is praised for its breathtaking ocean views and upscale ambiance, making it ideal for special occasions. While the service is consistently noted as attentive and professional, some diners find the food to be good but not exceptional for the price point, with occasional remarks about slow service during peak times.

"Went here for a lunch. We had a reservation so we were seated upon checking in with the hostess. She seated us in the table by the full size window with the most beautiful view of the ocean- so stunning and peaceful.
We ordered the branzino, salmon and steak. All are yummy to our liking. The service is awesome, Jessica was warm and attentive throughout. The whole place is relaxed yet with a luxurious vibe.
Will definitely be coming back."

"Let me first give them the benefit of the doubt. It was a fairly busy night. There were a lot of golfers who were causing a lot of chaos by the bar, which is attached to the restaurant.

However, this is the Ritz Carlton, where people pay more than $900 a night.

There were long lines to get seated even with a reservation. We had to wait for about half an hour. Again, with a reservation…

The service was slow. At a nice restaurant where dinners can cost $50 for macaroni, you would expect the waiter would introduce themselves and be fairly attentive—no such luck.

There was a group of golfers who were clearly drunk at the bar, which is attached, and sometimes wrestling each other to the ground all while families and well dressed hotel-goers had to listen to this. They almost ran into an elderly couple having dinner while they were wrestling. No one stopped to intervene and no one seemed to cut them off at the bar.

The food was subpar. It took 45 minutes to come out and was relatively flavorless. Have included a picture of the seafood pasta, which an eighth grader could have made. We had several dishes between my wife and I, and all of them were something you would expect from a Holiday Inn, but not the Ritz Carlton. And for more than $200 out the door.

Great building. Great views. They had a lot to work with, but it was unpleasant."

"The Conservatory is such a lovely and lively space — easily one of my favorite spots for breakfast during our stay at The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay. The design of the restaurant and bar is beautiful, with so much natural light and thoughtful details that make the whole space feel bright, airy, and inviting.

The ocean views are absolutely stunning — you can sit back with a coffee and just watch the waves roll in. It’s the perfect mix of relaxed and refined.

Service was excellent from start to finish — friendly, attentive, and quick without ever feeling rushed. Everything we ordered was fresh and well prepared, and the whole atmosphere made mornings feel extra special.

Highly recommend coming here even if you're not staying at the hotel. It's a peaceful, gorgeous setting to start your day."

The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay – Hotel Review

The Conservatory, mimicking a modern beach house, is great for a casual breakfast, lunch, or dinner, while the Ocean Terrace features an oyster bar and grilled specialties. But the real star is Navio, the acclaimed restaurant from Chef Jakob Esko that focuses on coastal flavors. The restaurant hosts the Global Cuisine Series, welcoming other internationally acclaimed chefs as well.
