Badolina Bakery & Cafe Location: Rice Village Parking: 9/10 parking is not too bad you just have to go past the hamsa valet parking and it’s right behind there or there’s parking on the street and more parking in a parking garage not far from Badolina To note: Has WiFi. A cute place but inside it’s very small and they also have outdoor seating! My order: Latte Rose Syrup Lavender Syrup Oat Milk ...

Reviews Summary

Badolina Bakery & Cafe is a highly-rated gem in Rice Village, celebrated for its delicious and unique Israeli-inspired pastries and baked goods. Diners rave about the flaky croissants and the charming atmosphere, though some mention initial confusion with the ordering process and occasional service issues. Despite minor critiques, most find the experience to be a delightful culinary escape. Reddit+2

"If you like your cafe latte a little more robust like they serve in Europe, then this is the place for you! Great coffee flavor. I had their
“Sunburst “ pastry, which is stuffed with eggplant and tahini. It was very good, although could have done with a little less dough. Love the Rice Village atmosphere on their patio!"

"This is such a cozy spot. An employee from Vuori recommended I visit because I did not plan on going to Starbucks for something to drink, I’m so grateful for her recommendation as well as the amazing lavender matcha on recommendation from one of the baristas that worked there. The staff seems very friendly and the location was a bit difficult to find with the trees covering signage in the front, but I’d say that adds to the effect this spot would be great on a sunny day in spring. I tried three different cookies, white chocolate macadamia, which was really good. The chocolate chip I’d say it was all right, but the walnut pecan one was absolutely my favorite. There were so many different options. It was hard to choose so I definitely had to stick with a safe choice and get cookies. But overall, this would be a great place to study at."

"A Little Slice of Heaven in Rice Village! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Badolina Bakery & Cafe is an absolute gem, and I can't recommend it enough! Their Rice Village location is perfect, offering a wonderful atmosphere that's both bustling and cozy. Every visit has been a delight, thanks to their consistently friendly staff who always make you feel welcome.
And the food? Oh, the food! Everything I've tried has been delicious, but the croissants are truly out of this world – flaky, buttery perfection that melts in your mouth. The shakshuka sandwich is another standout; it's a unique and incredibly flavorful option that I crave regularly.
Whether you're looking for a quick coffee and pastry or a more substantial meal, Badolina delivers. It's quickly become one of my favorite spots in Houston!"

The Best Bakeries in Houston

The world of Israeli baking meets the Bayou City at Bādolina Bakery & Cafe, from the team behind swanky Mediterranean steak house Doris Metropolitan and Israeli restaurant Hamsa. At Badolina, owners Itai Ben Eli, Sash Kurgan, and Itamar Levy are introducing pastries they grew up with in Israel through one-of-a-kind goods like shakshuka focaccia and pistachio baklava croissants. But the star of Bādolina may very well be its breads: a hardy, eclectic lineup featuring sourdough and other specialties. A picturesque bakery with outdoor seating in the heart of Rice Village, Bādolina is the kind of place where craving and culture meet.

The brainchild of Sof Hospitality (Doris Metropolitan and Hamsa), Badolina is a small but mighty temple to gluten and a testament to the way Houston’s bread and baked-goods scene is flourishing. They excel at laminated pastries (croissants and the Sunday-only dulce de leche crioche, a brioche-croissant mashup), scones and the glorious cardamom buns, which are magic with coffee. Outstanding savory pastries like the sambusak-sabich — featuring eggplant, egg and tahini wrapped in a soft, full-flavored dough — are takeaway winners.

Houston’s artisan bread scene is on the rise

One notable example is the recently opened Badolina Bakery & Cafe in Rice Village, a project from Sof Hospitality that operates Doris Metropolitan, the Israeli steakhouse known for its bread service. Badolina, a wee retail shop, has been mobbed since it opened last month with customers eager to get their hands on its rustic breads and jewelbox pastries. The bread from executive pastry chef Michal Michaeli often sells out by noon.

There are in-door dine-in area but I recommend you to sit outside the patio area, it’s more spacious and perfect for people watching especially on a sunny day. They made fresh bakery daily with many of its items super colourful and artistic looking.
